"No, no, Kurt, no, Kurt, wake up, wake up, Kurt, please wake up."

Blaine was shaking, babbling as he gripped Kurt's pale face in his hands and tried not to look at the blood pouring from where his head had hit the street. He didn't know what to do, wasn't able to comprehend the fact that Kurt wasn't moving or answering his sobbing pleas for him to wake up.

He'd watched Jeremiah push him, barely processed it before Kurt was already on the ground, still and limp. And Blaine was already dropping to his knees at Kurt's side, hating himself for not catching him and wishing it had been him Jeremiah had pushed instead.

"What have you done!"

Blaine heard Wilson's roar of anger and briefly glanced up to seem him running towards them, Thad at his heels.

He turned back to Kurt, eyes stinging with tears. "Kurt, don't leave me, oh god, Kurt, wake up, please wake up!" His hands were trembling as his brushed the stay strands of hair off Kurt's forehead, wishing he would just open his eyes and tell Blaine that he loved him.

He heard Wilson shouting something to Jeremiah, who jeered back, though he sounded nervous.

Thad dropped down on the other side of Kurt, glancing fretfully at Blaine as he took charge of the situation.

"We have to get him up to the Castle, Blaine," Thad said, reaching out to take Kurt's wrist and lightly grip the pulse-point. He let out a sigh of relief. "Blaine, it's okay, he's...he's alive. We just have to get him to the Hospital Wing."

Something seemed to slide into place in Blaine's mind when he heard Jeremiah laugh harshly as he turned to leave, shoving Wilson off him.

Blaine leapt to his feet, pulling out his wand and running after Jeremiah.

"I will fucking kill you!" he screamed, rage as he'd never felt before coursing through him like a drug.

Jeremiah turned, sneering coldly. "Oh, what are you going to do, Blaine? Cry to McGonagall?" He made to turn on the spot, to vanish into this air.

"Exlpelliarmus!" Blaine shouted, catching Jeremiah's wand as it flew towards him and snapping it cleanly in two, throwing the pieces aside and ignoring Jeremiah's cry of anger as he stormed down the street towards him. "You can't Apparate away now, you fucking coward!"

Jeremiah looked nervous for the first time, eyes darting around the street, which was empty except for them as Blaine had forced him out of the main square.

"Blaine, just, calm down," Jeremiah said, swallowing nervously. "He's f-fine, I'm sure, just don't do anything you'll regret. Remember, you used to love me?"

Blaine shouted with laughter as Jeremiah backed down a side street, stumbling slightly.

"I'm going to break your fucking face, Jeremiah," Blaine growled. "You know, the way you had your friends break mine?"

There were approaching footsteps behind him but he ignored them.

"B-Blaine, please, just, calm down," Jeremiah said, looking trapped.

Blaine stuffed his wand in his back pocket; no magic, not this time, it simply wouldn't give him the satisfaction that using his fists would.

"I stopped being calm the moment you touched Kurt," Blaine growled, kicking aside a dustbin that Jeremiah had moved into his way as he retreated. "I'm not going to let you do this to me anymore."

He'd reached Jeremiah, who was cowering and babbling pleas; but Blaine was past mercy, past forgiveness, past caring that he was a Prefect and a Quidditch Captain because Kurt was lying in the middle of the street, bleeding and unconscious and it was all because of this man who'd been trying to ruin his life for nearly a year.
