I changed into pants similar to my old pants, except they were a dark-brown to blend in with the darkness. I tucked a wine-colored blouse under my belt, and completed the look with Shinso's cloak. It felt weird to not have the pendant around my neck. It had become a weight on my shoulders, but I oddly liked that weight. It was like a reminder that something was holding me to the earth. I wasn't dead like my father, I wasn't dead like Eri's mother, and I wasn't gone. I was here, and human. I miss that feeling. However grimm that may seem.

I didn't have a mask anymore, but that wasn't going to stop me from doing this. I loaded my bags with potions, and of course my dagger. I did like the feeling of Shinso's sword in my hand, but it's not like I can afford a blade right now.

Then it was time to go.

I ran through the streets of the Great City, avoiding all authority. I kept my eyes open for Shinso and his fathers, almost without thinking about it. Maybe I just wanted to see Shinso again. Maybe I'm just looking for a friendly face.

The prophet doesn't reside in the church. He lives in a mansion on the other side of town. A mansion that I just broke into. Man. We're moving fast.

A window on the top floor was open, so I simply slipped inside. I stuck to the shadows, and made my way into the mansion's rafters. There were guards stationed at one door, so I assumed that was Chisaki's room. The door opened and I slipped inside.

The room was simple. Dark green walls, candles mounted everywhere. There was a large bed with bloodred sheets and golden wood framing, and purple accents filled every piece of furniture dotted around the cavernous room. But the focus of the room was the giant fireplace that Chisaki himself now stood before.

"I am a prophet of the gods above," Chisaki spoke to no one but himself, at least as far as he knew, "So why? Why is she affecting me this way?"

I tucked myself behind one of the rafters, suddenly feeling extra uncomfortable.

"I am purer than these wenches. These leeches," He pulled my mask from his pocket, "But then why do I keep thinking like them? Those eyes..."

He turned away from the fire, thinking for a while, then turning back to the flames, "It's not my fault! It's her! That song she sang! It must have been a spell made to enchant- no- seduce! I'm not to blame!"

I had a front row seat to a man descending into madness. I honestly don't know what I was expecting. But it sure as hell wasn't this.

"I will burn her to the ground!" Shit, "I will not let her do this to me!"

"Lord prophet Chisaki," The captain that had announced the festival, he looked like he was hiding a smile under his mask as he said the next sentence, "(Y/N) escaped."

Chisaki turned his back to the flames, "What?"

"She's nowhere in the church. She's gone."

Chisaki looked like he had a million questions, but he turned back to the fire, "Get out, you imbecile! I'll find her. I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris to do it!"

And this is officially the worst place for me to be.

"Yes..." The captain tensed and began to leave the room.

I took the opportunity to slip out though the door. I didn't have the locket to clutch onto, but my muscle memory forced my hand to my neck anyway. I slipped out the open window and made my way on top of the roof.

"Damn," I sighed, "Now what?"
