"I'd love to," She sounded happy to hear my invitation.

I led her by the hand onto the dancefloor. She was taller than me, adding to the allure. She placed her hands as if to lead, but I quickly took control. The music started. My left hand graced her waist while the other held her hand tight.

She smiled down at me, "How are you so... confident? Everyone is staring at you."

"I'm surprised," I smiled, "I can't keep my eyes off of you," I spun her, "Plus, if they're all staring at me. Then you can do whatever you wish."

She flushed as bright red as her dress, "What about you?"

"I'm doing exactly what I want."

The song and the dancing went on and on. Violins, cellos, basses, and violas filled the ballroom with joy.

She was right, I could feel hundreds of eyes on my back as I danced. Eyes of admiration and jealousy alike. Though I couldn't focus on those. I was completely fixated on the girl before me.

Finally the first song was over, and all of a sudden the dance floor was flooded with other dancers.

"Woah," I pulled closer to her, "it got crowded," The next song started, "You wanna get out of here?"

"Are you kidding?" She whispered as we moved around the silky floor, "We can't."

"Why not?" I spun her around, "You're your own woman. You're free to do whatever you wish. And I'm here to make sure you aren't denied that pleasure."

She turned a bright red, "Alright. Lead the way."

I held her hands, making my way through the crowd of dancers. I threw in some twirls and fancy footwork as if to convince onlookers that we were still dancing. It took half of another song, but we finally broke free from the suffocating crowd. The cold air of the grand balcony cut into my skin.

"Do you have anywhere you want to go?" I looked at all the paths that had opened up to us.

"How about..." She slowly pointed to the far left hall, "Library?"

I felt a warm joy flood my body, "As you wish."

The room was mostly an open space. Books lined the walls and filled the upper balcony, but the main area of the room was an open court. A flat, hardwood area surrounded by carpeting. On the wall closest to the hardwood the books had been replaced with blunt fencing equipment.

"I know we aren't exactly wearing the proper attire," She made an elegant beeline for the weapons, "but it wouldn't hurt to practice."

She handed me a sword, "Rules of a classic Aichian duel are simple."

"You fight until you cut your opponent or someone surrenders;" I listed off the rules like a holy verse, "The challenger allows their opponent to attack them with no counter attack for five minutes; in those minutes the challenger is permitted to block, dodge, and/or surrender; and all intentions of the duel must be stated clearly beforehand."

Her eyes widened slightly, but her face melted into a smile quickly, "You remember."

"Yeah," my mouth was speaking without my brain's command, "I used to love watching duels. It was like watching art in motion."

She had a sparkle in her eyes, "Well... I'm the challenger, so attack away. And don't go easy on me."

"Wouldn't dream of it."

We began a new dance. Shrill clanks of thin stips of metal hitting one another filled the library. The minutes ticked by on a grandfather clock that stood among the swords for this very purpose. I soon recognized the five minutes had passed by, and she began counterattacking. We couldn't go all out due to our attire, but this was purely for fun.
