Let's Not Lose Our Hope

Seungmin p.o.v

Why? Why it's her and not me? If it really need to be her, can't you bring me too? Looking at her with this thick glass separating us hurt me lots. I wish I could hold her hands and say that everything will be fine. I wish I could hug her close to me to let know that I'm always here for her. I wish to be able to wipe those precious tears of hers.

Chan:*softly* Hey, it's time to go now.
Seungmin: Can't we stay a little bit longer?
Chan: I'm sorry, the visit time has ended Min-ah.
Seungmin: I understand hyung.

Seungmin:*whisper* I'll come again. I'll always be here for you. You are strong y/n-ah. Recover quickly and we can do everything you want. I'll be waiting.

I turn my back following Chan hyung who has walked ahead. My steps feel heavy as I take step by step away from her. I thought that I will always be able to hold her close but then, it's happened. Everything seems fresh in my mind which pain me more.

Chan: The kids are asking whether you wanna han-
Seungmin: I will. It's not like I have others to do.
Chan: Okay.

Seungmin: Hyung, why her?
Chan:*sadly smile* I don't know Min-ah.
Seungmin: Why can't I follow her?
Chan: You can't Min-ah.
Seungmin:*voice crack* I need her hyung. It has been two months hyung!
Chan: I know it's hard Min. But you need to stay strong for her. She needs you to stay strong and keep on believing in her.
Seungmin:*drop a tear* I'm starting to lose hope hyung. I don't like it.

Chan p.o.v

I don't know what to say anymore. My friend, who used to have lots of hopes start to lose hopes. And the one who should be here comforting him is tied to those wires in her room. She can't even open her eyes to look at him and he is slowly to lose hope here. What should I say to him? I want him to stay strong but I can't even get that words out of my mouth.

I don't wanna lie to him but I can't say what I really felt to him either. I really hope that she wake up soon. I really hope that she will be comforting him soon instead of us, his friends. She means a lot to him and I know that well.

Author p.o.v

Yoon y/n. Seungmin's girlfriend for a year. They met because of Jeongin's clumsiness around a year and half ago.

She is seperated from Seungmin since she is tested that she is positive of covid. One of her workmate decide to ignore the safety protocol and accidentally infect some of the employees there. Being born with week immune, she suffered a lot. She has difficulty in breathing and she can't seem to consume any solids.

When she told Seungmin bout this, he despise her workmate. He doesn't like the fact that just because of that person's stubbornness, he must be seperated from her.

Doctor: We will try our best to help Yoon y/n.

Doctor: We are sorry Mr. Kim. But you shouldn't visit her here anymore.
Seungmin: W-why?

Seungmin try every single possible to be able to get close, at least, to have a look of her. He even almost want to get infected by the virus if it's not stop by his friends.

Jisung:*shout* Are you crazy Seungmin?!
Seungmin:*frustated* I wanna be with her!
Hyunjin:*sigh* But you can't just go and make contact with the patients.
Seungmin: I just wanna be close to her, is that too much to ask?
Jisung: You can't risk your life for it Min-ah. What will she say if she saw you like this?!

Two months end up being three. Sehngmin is more and more broken each day. His mind can't seems to be thinking straight any longer. Minho need to force him to stay in his house to take care of him. He doesn't feed himself, he doesn't let himself rest, he cry till his eyes are all swollen, and he start to lose hope.

Jeongin:*shouting* Hyung! Seungmin hyung!
Minho:*glare**creepy smile* Innie, use your indoor voice?
Jeongin:*nervous chuckle* Sorry hyung. Where is Seungmin hyung?
Minho: In the guest room. You probability need *tossed a key* this to go inside.
Jeongin:*catch the key* Okay. See you hyung!

Jeongin: Seungmin hyung?

Jeongin scanned the room before stepping inside. Seungmin is currently sitting facing the window. His eyes are empty and his breathing is rough. His skin get paler compare when last Jeongin saw him.

Jeongin:*careful* Seungmin hyung?

Jeongin make sure to take each step with care. He doesn't want to surprise him or make him go to a panic mode. When he is just right beside him, he slowly touch his arms.

Even with all the careful movement Jeongin's has made, Seungmin still flinch away when he feel a sort of touch on his arms. He soon realise it's Jeongin and let out a small smile. Everyone who sees that could know that it's a force one.

Jeongin: Hyung?

Jeongin: The hospital just called to infor-

By the mention of the hospital, Seungmin whipped his head toward Jeongin as fast as light making Jeongin stumbled back a little.

Seungmin:*panic* W-what did they s-say?! Ha-have y/n wake up?! H-how is-
Jeongin:*calm Seungmin down* Hyung, calm down. *smile* I'll tell you everything.

Seungmin take a deep breath before muttering sorry and allow Jeongin to finish his sentence.

Jeongin:*smile* They said that y/n has waken up. They also said that she already able to swallow solid food.
Seungmin:*hopeful* D-does that m-mean I can m-meet her?
Jeongin:*shake his head**sad smile* No hyung, she is in quarantine. No one can visit her.

Seungmin happiness level went down after knowing that he still can't visit her. He is glad that she has waken up and able to swallow solid food but he still want to see her.

Jeongin: But they can schedule some video call, they said.
Seungmin: Can we?
Jeongin:*nod* Yes, you can hyung.

Minho p.o.v

Jeongin has been inside of Seungmin's room for thirty minutes now. I don't hear any shouting which probably mean that Jeongin manage to calm him down. He sure is broken now. I literally need to force him to eat his food which sometime end up with useless argument.

My attention is caught when I heard their footsteps getting closer to me. My expression change to a surprise as I saw Seungmin also came out from the room.

Seungmin: Hey hyung.

I literally choke on nothing as I look to Jeongin demanding an explanation of how he could easily make him step out his room.

Jeongin:*smirk* I'm just too prefect to ignore hyung.
Minho: Yeah sure.
Seungmin: Hyung, can I go get some fresh clothes?

I guess I'm friend with Hyunjin for too long that I literally throw myself to the couch as I heard what Seungmin say.

Jeongin p.o.v

I never seen this side of Minho hyung. How can he get so dramatic, or is he always this dramatic? After some mins of silence with hyung staring at us as if we are aliens, he stand up, grab his car key and dashed out leaving me and Seungmin hyung standing in confusion.

Jeongin: Hyung, is Minho hyung always like that?
Seungmin: I don't know?

Minho:*shout* Are you guys coming or not?!

Author p.o.v

Two weeks have passed and today is their fifth time doing video call with y/n. She looks a lot healthier than before. Her skin colour is back and she could walk by her own already. But one thing that make Seungmin the happiest is that, she could laugh the iconic laugh of hers already. Her laugh that doesn't hold any burden in it. The laugh that Seungmin's missed the most.

Hyunjin:*excited* Y/n!
Jisung:*excited* How are you?!
Y/n:*chuckle* I'm fine.

Seungmin: Sorry for the noise babe.
Y/n: It's okay, it makes me feel less lonely.
Seungmin: How are you feeling babe?
Y/n: Lots better. What bout you babe?
Seungmin:*shrugged* Just the same. *sigh* Minho hyung will barged in my room every lunch and dinner.
Y/n:*laugh* I never thought that Minho oppa could care for you that much.
Seungmin:*sigh* I'm thankful for him but it gets annoying sometime.
Y/n:*laugh* I wanted to see that side of Minho oppa.
Seungmin: Trust me. You will get annoyed by it soon.
