"Oh no." Was the only thing I could muster after seeing him and the creatures behind him.
"I thought we had something special between us. You crush my fragile heart, Ava." He mocked me.
"You need to stop showing up at places where you are unwanted!" I hissed at him which didn't sit well with his army.
The creatures were all disoriented. I saw Chimeras and Minotaurs from the Greek myths; Draugr from the Norse myths; Dullahan and Slaugh from the Celtic myths; Griffin from Egyptian myths; Pishacha and Manticore from Indian myths; Dragon and Nian from Chinese myths and Oni and Nogitsune from the Japanese myths.
These are all the monsters mentioned in these mythologies. Known for creating problems for the common folks. It's safe to say that they hate humans because for centuries these creatures have been featured in their nightmares. This man collected all the creatures from all the mythologies of the world. And now I know that whatever is going on it is indeed supernatural.
However, these creatures were eliminated from the world a long time ago. Those humans in ancient times were strong enough to deal with such creatures, they faced them with courage. But humans today are weak. Too weak to withstand even a single snarl from the dragon or a hiss from the chimaeras. As much as the situation asked me to run, I stayed glued to my position. I couldn't move. My conscious won't allow me to run.
Chimera is essentially a single organism that's made up of cells from two or more 'individuals'—that is, it contains two sets of DNA, with the code to make two separate organisms. One way that chimaeras can happen naturally in humans is that a fetus can absorb its twin. It is often depicted as a lion and a half deadly goat. Minotaurs, in Greek mythology, a fabulous monsters of Crete that had the body of a man and the head of a bull. It was the offspring of Pasiphae, the wife of Minos, and a snow-white bull sent to Minos by the god Poseidon for sacrifice.
The draugr or draug is an undead creature from the Scandinavian saga literature and folktale.
The Dullahan - also referred to as the Headless Horseman - is a type of Fae originating from Irish folklore. This sinister being appears as a man or a woman riding upon a black horse, but the rider has no head upon their shoulders. The Sluagh or Sluagh a march, were the hosts of the unforgiven dead in Scottish Gaelic folklore. In the Western Isles of Scotland the Sluagh, or fairy host, was regarded as composed of the souls of the dead flying through the air, and the feast of the dead at Halloween was likewise the festival of the fairies.
The griffin, griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and sometimes an eagle's talons as its front feet.
Pishachas are flesh-eating demons in the Buddhist and Hindu mythology. Legend describes them as the sons of either Krodha (figuratively "Anger"). They have been described as bulging veins and protruding, red eyes. A manticore is a mythological creature that was said to be unconquerable. The mighty beast is best known for its strange but magnificent features. It is often said that the beast had the head of a man, the body of a lion, and the tail of a scorpion.
A dragon is a large, serpentine, legendary creature that appears in the folklore of many cultures worldwide. Beliefs about dragons vary considerably through regions, but dragons in western cultures since the High Middle Ages have often been depicted as winged, horned, four-legged, and capable of breathing fire. According to Chinese mythology, a Nian is a beast that lives under the sea or in the mountains. The character nian more usually means "year" or "new year". The earliest written sources that refer to the nian as a creature date to the early 20th century.
Oni is a kind of yōkai, demon, ogre, or troll in Japanese folklore. They are typically portrayed as hulking figures with one or more horns growing out of their heads. Stereotypically, they are conceived of as red, blue or white-coloured, wearing loincloths of tiger pelt, and carrying iron kanabō clubs. Kitsune in Japanese mythology are foxes with impeccable intelligence and possess paranormal abilities. A Nogitsune is a breed of Kitsune that feeds off of chaos, pain, and mischief.
"How did you bring these creatures back?" I asked after calming myself down.
"Easy. But that's my secret. Now you've been a pain in my ass for far too long. Seventeen years and I still couldn't eliminate you. Tell me, my dear, how would you want to die? At whose hands? You know all of these folks here so I don't have to introduce you to anyone. Choose dear." He smirked at me.
I wonder what his name is because I'm quite tired of mentioning him as him. If I know the name, I will have a name to hate. It'll be easier. But does the situation allow me to ask my enemy his name? No. So I keep quiet and stare at his head.
"You aren't Medusa. I won't turn into a stone if you stare at me." He spoke.
"But I am." Someone hissed behind me. The voice belonged to Calla. I turned around to see her in a changed form. Instead of hair, she sported snakes, instead of her tan brown skin, she had greasy skin and her eyes were what scared me. They weren't her normal brown colour, they were a ghastly grey.
Not only her, but everyone else changed too. And I was confused about what to feel and what not to feel. So many things happening at the same time made me confused. Almost to the level of having a panic attack. I stared at the others whose bodies didn't have drastic changes but it was still too scary.
Clayton had this glowing aura around him that's seemed to resonate his anger. Harry, the Harry with whom I was just joking, has his iris red and fangs coming out of his teeth. Edward was as normal as a human but he isn't a human because of the orange glow in his body. Dylan had claws and his eye colour was blue and had overgrown hair. Sebastian was the same. Sophia was just standing there looking beautiful. But as soon as her mouth opened, I was surprised to see that such beauty could look so devastating. She looked ready for murder.
Holy crap! I've been friends with the supernaturals.
I have been hyperventilating ever since this morning and it's not good for me. But I can't afford to go into a panic attack right now. I need to stay awake and okay for these people. They are here to supposedly 'protect me, but maybe I can do something too. Though a little but I can try my best.
I again faced the man and his team of heinous creatures. They all hissed and snarled at us, while the man stood there looking smug as ever. What was he proud of? And who the hell is he? What part do I play in all this?
With one sign from his hand the entire army charged at us. For a second I didn't know what to do. I panicked but at the same time, this feeling bubbling inside me was perplexing. I didn't move from my place but for some reason, my friends covered their ears. It was supposed to be a defence against something but their faces didn't hold any panic, their faces were calm. They were just anticipating. And that's when it happened.
I screamed.
