"Joanna doesn't feel so well. I will have to go back." Papa John muttered urgently.
"I'll come with you. Kayden we can do the project some other day. You could come tomorrow or I could come to your place tomorrow." I rushed out.
"We have to submit the project tomorrow Ava." Kayden said slowly. In his deep gravely voice. Evening time is just the worse for me. I get extra hormonal and I feel weird things. Just like how his voice makes my stomach feel great, in a good way.
"It's alright child. You stay here and complete the project. I'll have to go." Papa John gave Kayden a look of warning.
"Okay how about this, we both come there and we can do the project while I could also take care of Joanna. You might need some help." I raised my brows daring him to say otherwise. He didn't, of course, because I know he wouldn't leave me alone with a guy. He definitely would not, he is too overprotective of me, in the nicest way possible.
"That's much better. You'll drive right?" Papa John asked.
"Yup. I'll see you there in a bit." I nodded and he walked out while I began packing up my things. "You came in your car right? So it'll be convenient if we take your car to their house. Take these things and keep them in the car, I need to get a few things from my room and the kitchen. I'll see you outside."
"Calm down. Joanna will be okay." Kayden muttered softly, trying to soothe me. I was startled at the way he spoke. Because Kayden never speaks like this. He is rude and dominating. Not sweet and caring. But maybe deep down he is.
"Yeah. Thanks." Saying that I dashed to my room and got out the candies that I ordered for Joanna. There was also this bunch of artificial flowers, with a nice scent that I bought for her.
I do realise that I buy a lot of things for her. But that's okay because when I was young, she often bought me things. Though I'm not repaying her in any way, I just do it out of love. And the money I use is from the little investments that I do on my own. Papa John always offers to pay me, father and mother give me nice pocket money, but whenever I buy gifts I do that from all the money I earn through online means.
I like to believe that I am independent.
"These smell nice." Kayden complimented once I settled in the car.
"It's her favourite scent." I replied and looked out the window. Occasionally I had to direct Kayden and within the next few minutes we were pulling up into the house.
I collected my things and waited for Kayden to do the same. Once we were ready to walk in, I was the first one to move in without knocking or anything. I turned around and motioned for Kayden, who was standing at the door, to follow me. He was curiously looking around at the furniture and all the items in the house. He seemed lost and cute like a little kid, but his tall brooding self screamed otherwise.
Kayden is damn fine!
But he is rude to me. And he doesn't respect me. I would not tolerate a person not respecting me, that's not how I was raised. Sure I take shit from my mother and father but I don't retaliate there because I owe them my existence. But if I could, I would have shown them their place long back.
"Jo-Jo, I got you some things." I announced when I saw the two of them sitting in the living room. She swiftly turned around with a smile on her face and then looked behind me.
"Oh you got me a really fine thing." I rolled my eyes at her comment about Kayden. Papa John did the same. It's a father-daughter thing.
"Hello Mrs. Mickelson, I'm Kayden. Ava's friend." He said politely with a freaking smile on his freaking face. How the fuck does he smile? Since when? Cause last I remember Kayden only ever scowls. He never smiles.
