"Enzo Mickelson." Papa announced the name of my brother that day and I couldn't help but gush about how strong that name sounded. It was hot and I know, I just know my brother is going to grow up into a respectable man who will then learn that power comes from having support of your own people.
Mamma and papa were so happy. Mamma wept again when papa came back in the room that day and handed her the baby. He was so tiny and beautiful that I felt a few tears slip out of my own eyes.
Kayden hesitated before holding him. He was too huge and holding that small bundle of joy against his chest, he looked like my future husband and I wanted to marry him right there and then. Unable to control myself I told him that I love him which earned a cough from papa. So I told him I loved him too.
Baby was growing up well and healthy. Mamma and papa were taking good care of him and when they needed rest, I filled in for them. Everything was going so smoothly and according to my friends, we deserved it. They would often come and visit us, more for Enzo than me, but I know my little brother loved every bit of attention he got from the people.
When we returned from the hospital, I and Kayden and all of our friends had planned a party for them. Charlotte and mamma sat together gushing about Enzo, while our fathers sat in a corner laughing and engaging in a very interesting conversation which papa didn't find interesting at all. He just wanted to be beside mamma.
Apparently she had said some really disturbing things during child birth and papa was worried. He always was. And now that his wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, he wanted to be as close to her as possible. He was like an alpha male, glaring at any other male who came too close to mamma. Even if that male was way younger than him. Like Clayton, who hadn't stopped flirting with mamma that day.
And to add the cherry on top, each time he visited mamma and Enzo, he would bring her favourite flowers. Papa was ready to kick him out one day. I know Clayton does it for the fun of it, but I sometimes worry about his mental health.
I couldn't spend much time with my friends, soon after the birth. So they tried spending time with me, by coming to my place or just taking me out for coffee and then dropping me back soon.
Kayden had been extremely supportive. Especially since college had started again and we both were now an official couple, girls had been envious of me. They would glare at me and snarl in my face like animals. Kayden told me that they didn't bother him at all.
This particular evening, mamma and papa were leaving for a ball, which I convinced mamma to go to, so I was on babysitting duty. And what better thing than to do it with Kayden.
As soon as papa and mamma left, Kayden picked up Enzo and bounced him lightly on his lap. I smiled at the image. Enzo was now eight months old. Old enough to be blabbering anything. And it was music to my ears.
The best thing to wake up to was his laughter or his slurred blabbering. Mamma and papa placed his cot in my room after his four months were complete. Of course it was on my demand. I don't regret it at all. And apparently mamma and papa didn't regret it either considering how dishevelled they both were the next morning.
Stupid people, could've slept instead of doing it like rabbits. But I love them.
"He is cute." Kayden said to me when I plopped down next to him. I hummed and rested my head on his shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"Yes. I'm fine." I lied. The assignments were getting too much and I wanted nothing but rest sometimes I even wanted to drop out of college.
"Liar." He whispered against my ear sending a delicious shiver down my spine.
