Back at Destiny Islands, Sora was laying in bed, remembering what Kairi had said. Hikari was writing in her diary and smiled at Sora. "So the two of you going together?"
Sora blushed. "Really? Are we still talking about—"
Their conversation was interrupted when Hikari saw thunder and lightning in the distance. "Sora, look! There's a storm on the islands!" she cried.
"A storm? What storm?" Sora looked outside the window to see what was going on and realized something. "Oh, no, the raft!"
After Sora and Hikari jumped out of the window to head toward the islands, Sora's mother shouted, "Sora, Hikari, dinner's ready. Come on down. Sora? Hikari?"
When Sora and Hikari arrived at the islands, Hikari saw a ball of darkness and remembered her only nightmare.
"What's that?" Sora asked.
"I don't know," Hikari said, looking scared. Then, she noticed two boats moored near the dock. "Sora, look!"
Sora recognized the two boats when he looked at them. "Riku's boat. And Kairi's!"
"They must've came here while we were at our rooms," Hikari said. Then, something appeared. Some Shadows appeared. "We'll find Kairi later," Hikari said to Sora. "But first... we must find Riku." Then she saw Riku standing next to a palm tree. "I know where he is."
Sora nods. "Okay, let's go!" He followed Hikari to where Riku is. "Where's Kairi?" Sora asked Riku. "I thought she was with you!"
"The door has opened..." Riku muttered.
"What?" Sora looked confused.
"What door?" Hikari asked.
"The door has opened, you guys!" Riku said, turning to Sora and Hikari. "Now we can all go to the outside world!"
"What are you talking about?" Hikari asked again.
"We've gotta find Kairi!" Sora continued.
"Kairi's coming with us!" Riku said.
Sora and Hikari's eyes widened as Riku said to them, "Once we step through, we might not be able to come back. We may never see our parents again. There's no turning back. But this may be our only chance. We can't let fear stop us! I'm not afraid of the darkness!"

Sora noticed that Riku's holding out his hand. "Riku..."
Hikari clenched her fist. "Has the darkness taken you, Riku?"
And the darkness did. Hikari saw Sora trying to reach for Riku. "Sora, no!"
The darkness grabbed Sora but something happened. Sora was wielding a silver Keyblade with a gold handle and a hidden Mickey keychain, Kingdom Key, much to Hikari's shock.
