After leaving Hollow Bastion, Sora, Kairi, Donald, Goofy and Hikari arrived back at Traverse Town and meets up with Leon and the others.

"Tell me what happened," Leon said to Sora and Hikari.

"Okay," Hikari said. "Long story..."

Minutes later after Sora and Hikari had explained what had happened in Hollow Bastion, Leon sighed. "So the darkness is flowing out of that Keyhole..."

"No wonder there are more and more Heartless everywhere," Aerith frowned. "The only way to stop them is—"

"Seal the Keyhole, right?" Sora said, holding up his Kingdom Key Keyblade.

"Maybe," Leon said. "But no one knows what will happen once it's sealed."

"Well, we can't just stay here," Hikari said to Leon. "We have to do something."

"Yeah," Sora said. "We've got a friend back there."

"That's right," Leon nodded. "You two have one more friend to worry about. Riku's Keyblade must have been born of the captive princesses' hearts—just like that Keyhole you two saw." He looked at Kairi. "Of course, without Kairi's heart, it remained incomplete. Once that Keyblade was destroyed, the princesses' hearts should have been freed. Don't worry, Sora, Hikari. If anyone can save your friend, you two can."

After receiving a task from Cid, Sora, Hikari, Donald and Goofy meets up with Kairi at the Secret Waterway.

"What a mysterious mural... It's almost hypnotizing," Kairi said, looking at the mural.

Sora and Hikari walked up to the mural that changed the picture from a sun to a moon and soon retrieved a Navi-Gummi. Then they returned back to where Kairi is at.

"Let's go back and join the others," Sora said to Kairi. "We should rest up."

"Okay," Kairi nodded.

"I'll leave you two alone if you want," Hikari said as she leaves with Donald and Goofy.

Kairi looks at the mural. "A light at the end of the tunnel..."

"Oh, your grandma's story, right?" Sora said.

"That's right," Kairi nodded. "We were together."

"You know what's funny?" Sora said as he walked up to Kairi. "I looked everywhere for you, but you were with me all along. Finally, we're together, Kairi. Now, it's time to get Riku back."

Kairi frowned. "You think it'll ever be the same again between us? Riku's lost his..."

"When I turned into a Heartless, you saved me and Hikari, remember?" Sora interrupted. "We were lost in the darkness. We couldn't find our way. As we stumbled through the dark, we started forgetting things—our friends, who we are. The darkness almost swallowed us. But then we heard a voice—your voice. You brought us back."

"I didn't want to just forget about you and Hikari, Sora," Kairi said. "I couldn't."

"That's it! Our hearts are connected," Sora said, placing his hand on his chest. "And the light from our hearts broke through the darkness. We saw that light. I think that's what saved us. No matter how deep the darkness, a light shines within. I guess it's more than just a fairy tale."

"Well, let's go," Kairi smiled.

"You can't go," Sora said, shaking his head.

"Why not?" Kairi frowned.

"Because it's way too dangerous," Sora said.

Kairi just smiled. "Come on, Sora. We made it this far by sticking together. You can't go alone."
