45 minutes later when the lasagna is ready and starting to get cold:
Matt's POV: As I made my way upstairs to Antonio and Sylvie's bedroom to get the girls, I was a bit worried considering they should've been downstairs by now. The food is more than ready and it's already starting to get cold. Walking up to their bedroom, I smiled when I saw them both laughing and just having fun. Walking up to the door, I smiled as I looked at Gabby and leaned against the door frame. "Hope I am not disturbing." Turning to look at me, Gabby smiled. "Hey."

I smiled at her. "You get my text of did you guys miss it while you where talking up here?" Gabby then went to check her phone and saw that I texted her the food was ready 15 minutes ago. "Oh god, I am sorry." I nodded and smiled. "It's okay. I already gave Matteo food and he's eating. Your mom fed Ella. We are just waiting for you guys to eat the lasagna. I would rather do it before it gets cold." Sylvie nodded and agreed as she went to get up. "I was done a bit earlier. So, I am going to get up. You help Gabby get ready, she just finished." I nodded and agreed with her.

Walking over to Gabby, I smiled at her. "How was your conversation with Sylvie?" Gabby smiled when I asked. "Honestly, it felt like old times. When we were still both on ambo." I agreed and nodded before going to sit in front of her with my leg on the bed. "Are you starting to change your mind about not returning to work?" Gabby then sighed. "Matt, It's not really whether I want to return to work...it's I can't. We have 3 kids. And remember, Matteo might have special needs. That's why I can't go back to work." I nodded and agreed with her. "Sorry, it's my caring side."

Gabby looked at me a bit confused. "What do you mean?" I sighed and looked at her. "I don't want you to give up on your career just because we had kids. I don't want to be that type of husband that makes my wife quit the job she loves in order to take care of the kids. I know I shouldn't be questioning your intentions but...I can't help it. I want to be supportive, I really do Gabby. But, I want to make sure this is what you want." Gabby nodded and went to grab my hand, smiling at me. "Matt, it's what I want and not just because of Matteo."

I was confused when she said that. "Care to explain?" Gabby then sighed. "I would rather not work at the CFD so that the kids are guaranteed to always have a parent. I know it sounds really sad because I know you are going to stay safe but..." I just nodded and slipping close to her. Grabbing her neck, I went to kiss her softly and just held her close to me. "I understand. It's your anxiety coming out isn't it?" Gabby nodded and sighed when I said that. "Yeah. I know you are going to be really safe Matt but...is it wrong that I want to just be cautious?"

I nodded and agreed. "I understand because I feel bad for Terrence. He lost his dad at such a tender age. I would never want that for Matteo. But you have to remember that I am very young and I am not going into fires anymore. So, you have nothing to worry about." Gabby laughed when I said that. "You say that but remember, my husband is a firefighter. I always worry about you regardless of the fact that you don't go into fires anymore." I smiled when she said that and nodded. "Listen, what do you say after lunch we head home? The kids need naps."

Gabby smirked when I said that. "And you want me to yourself." I smiled and nodded. "Well, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea." Kissing her softly, I smiled as I went to hold her close. "I love you. And whenever you are ready to go home...I am more than ready." Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded. "Once we are done eating lunch, we can head home okay? I'll talk to Antonio and say you need to finish work. But instead, we can just cuddle in bed. Watch a movie." I nodded and agreed with her when she said that. "Sounds good."

Getting up from the bed, I smiled as I went to give Gabby my hand. Intertwining our fingers as she got up, I smiled as I led her out of Antonio's bedroom so that we could go have lunch downstairs before heading home.
