Matt's POV: Once everybody other than the ones we mentioned hung up, I smiled at Gabby to make sure that we picked the right people. She nodded and smiled as she went to grab my hand and intertwined our fingers. Kissing her softly, I smiled when I heard Cindy speak to us. "So Chief, is there any specific reason why you wanted to speak to us?" I nodded and agreed. "Yes, there is. As you all know. Me and Gabby are both catholic." Severide was shocked when I said that. "What?!? Since when are you catholic man?" I laughed. "Since I got married. I had to get baptized so that I could get married in the Catholic Church."
Severide agreed. "Okay, that makes sense." I agreed with him. "Now, back to what we were mentioning. Antonio, you and Sylvie already know about this right?" I said that, turning to look at Gabby. She then nodded. "Oh, Antonio already knows that he is going to be one to one of our kids." Antonio agreed. "I am just waiting to learn which one of your kids." I laughed and smiled. "Okay listen, so...this is why you guys are on the call. We are going to use this time to ask you guys to be our kids' godparents." Everybody seemed shocked by that, but they were all aslo honored and agreed right away. "YES!"
Gabby laughed when they said that. "Can we at least tell you guys what the pairings are and who your godchildren are going to be?" Antonio agreed. "I better get that adorable niece of mine!" I then shook my head and sighed. "Actually Antonio, we would like you and Sylvie to be Matteo's godparents." Antonio agreed. "Of course. Wait, me and Sylvie. Not your sister?" Christie then wondered about taht too. "Yeah, who am I going to be partnered with then?" I smiled when she said that. "This is why I want Stella on the call. Christie and Severide, will you be Ella's godparents?"
Christie agreed right away. "Of course Matt, I would love to be Ella's godmother. Just need to start going to church again. Or, is it okay if I haven't gone for a while?" I was about to answer when Antonio spoke for me. "No, you just need to be chosen. Oh and only one of the godparents have to be Catholic. Wait, we are talking about the Catholic church right?" Gabby then sighed. "Actually, we are going to do it in the Episcopal Church. It is the closest to Catholicism but, without the scandal." Antonio agreed. "Understood."
Christie then mentioned something that I didn't know. "Matt, you do realize that we are members of the Episcopal Church right? We got baptized when we were babies. We just never went to church considering all the shit that was going on at home. It was a ruse." I then looked at Gabby. "Oh, I didn't know that. Looks like that means it will be much easier to get the kids into the episcopal church. Now, just to say...we are not planning to do this anytime soon. We just want you guys to be ready for whenever we do decide to do it. Plus, this way we don't have to get all the questions as to who we picked."
Antonio understood. "Of course. Now, what does the mean for you guys being our kid's godparents? Gabby, you still up for that or are you going to switch?" Gabby then bit her lip and sighed. "Can you just ask your kids to be the godparents Antonio? I am not comfortable being in the Catholic church right now with all the scandals. If you want to continue to associate yourself with that church, go right ahead. I am not going to associate myself with that church anymore." Antonio understood. "Listen, it was great talking to you but...I just heard Theo wake up."
Sylvie agreed. "Yeah same here. Have a good day guys." We both agreed. "Talk to you all later okay?" Everybody agreed when I said that before hanging up. I then went to set my phone down on my side table and turned to look at Gabby, smiling at her before going to kiss her softly. "How about you lay down more and we can cuddle?" Gabby smiled and agreed as she came to lay down close to me. Wrapping my arms around her, I felt her slip her legs in between mine while wrapping her arms around her. "Mind if I take a nap?"
I nodded and went to kiss her head softly. "This is why I am laying down with you like this. I knew you were tired. You moved a lot last night. Plus, that bed wasn't the most comfortable. Stay asleep until the kids wake up." Gabby nodded and agreed as she just laid down close to me, holding me as we took a nap together that morning.
