Chapter 8

       River

I followed Draco upstairs, he slammed his door in my face but i immediately opened it and walked inside. " What the fuck is your problem?!" I asked closing the door behind me. He was standing over by his window staring at me from across the room.

" Do you understand how serious this is River?" He crossed his arms, " I hope you know Voldemort gave you this task because he assumes you will die during it." My eyes widened at his words. "You went off and played mother and daughter with my mom when you should be worrying about how you are going to stay alive." He walked over to me and sat on his bed, i stood in front of him.

"Why would he want me to die?" I asked my voice sounding strained.

" I don't know River, Maybe because your mom was a fucking muggle!" He snapped but immediately put his hand over his mouth, " I mean-"

" You know who my mother was?" i said stepping towards him angrily.

" No- i didn't-"

I pulled out my wand and pointed it towards him " Draco Lucius Malfoy, I was kept from knowing who my mother was for 16 years. You're going to tell me everything you know about her or i will crucio your ass." For the record we both knew i wouldn't actually use any curse on him but it was nice to be threatening him.

He threw his hands up with a small smile on his face he tried to hide. " Okay- okay, but you can't tell Severus. He'll tell the dark lord and the dark lord will quite actually murder me." I jab my wand closer to him and he lunged backwards. " Her name was Janna River Hawkins, and she didn't actually die from your birth..." He paused,i slowly lowered my wand. " Bellatrix killed her because she was a muggle and Severus wasn't supposed to be with a muggle considering he was a death eater." My heart dropped to my stomach, I was around Bellatrix and she acted like she hadn't killed my mother. She KNEW who i was.

Draco's POV

I could see the worry in her eyes as her chest began to rise lower dramatically, she crossed her arms under her chest and tried walking away "River are you-" she suddenly started to fall backwards, i grabbed onto her waist as she fell onto her side. Severus and Narcissa bursted into the room a few moments later.

" Draco, why is my daughter laying on the floor?" He asked calmly, he didn't seem to nervous about this whole situation.

I glared up at him as Narcissa got on her knees and felt her pulse just to make sure she was still breathing. "I think it was her anxiety, she always had panic attacks like this last year, not that you would know that though." I said saltily and turning her over on her back. Her eyes were closed and her lips were puffy.

" Hm." Severus walked out of the room swiftly, it made me so angry about how careless he was towards her.

I put my hands under her legs and neck picking her up off the ground, Narcissa followed me over to my bed as i laid her down. She moved Rivers black hair out of her face and stared at her carefully, maybe she really was caring towards her like her own daughter.

" Is she going to be okay?" I ask putting my hand on her stomach that was still flat from her lack of appetite.

" Her heart beat is normal, i'm sure she was just overwhelmed from all the anxiety. She'll wake up soon." She replied putting a blanket that was on the end of my bed over her. Narcissa turned for the door but looked back at me first, " Draco," I made eye contact with her. " Dont worry about her to much, she's gonna be fine." She turned away again and walked out of my room. I had a feeling she wasn't just talking about today.

I laid next to her on the bed and wrapped my arms around her waist putting my head on her chest. I could hear her heartbeat which gave me slight relief. The only thing i wanted was for her to be safe through all of this.
