Chapter 12

        River

Later that night i was wondering the hallways just to get my mind off things, it was only about an hour or two past curfew but i still hadn't expected anyone to be out right now, i bumped into someone causing me to stumble back a little.

" Oh, River." A soft voice said, i looked at them a little closer to see it was Luna. Me and her never truly met but i'm sure with my name going around the way it is right now she just knew.

" Hi Luna..." I said awkwardly.

She gave me a soft smile holding her hardcover books in her hands. "I suppose i'm not the only night owl then?"

I wrapped my arms around my stomach, "Yeah, It's peaceful out here during night fall." I say staring out one of the windows.

She nodded, "I understand, Things can get chaotic sometimes." She replied. Her voice was so soothing to me, I don't know why we didn't talk more often.

I guess Slytherins aren't really expected to talk to any of the other houses.

" What are you doing out here so late?" I asked turned back to her.

She opened her mouth to say something but looked down at her books first, "I snuck into the library, I haven't had much time during the day to get books that aren't school related so sometimes i come after dark."

We were then interrupted by a light coming from behind me, i turned around to see Severus making his way over to us.

" River, Luna, What are you two doing wondering the corridors at this hour?" He said his voice sounding tired.

I groan, he always managed to annoy me in some way. "We were just talking." I said crossing my arms, his eyes told me he didn't believe it.

Luna was very quiet behind me, i could tell she wasn't used to getting in trouble.

"That's no excuse," he looked behind me at Luna, "Lovegood i would never expect you to be the type to do such things. You two have to be up to something." He added.

" No sir- I promise, we were just talking." She replied her voice shaking slightly. It would have been wise of her to stay quiet.

" We'll see what the headmaster has to say about that, Follow me." He said grabbing our wrist's but i yank my hand back. " River don't test me-" he said turning around with his robes swaying around him.

" If we go to the headmaster i'll tell him everything." I replied my voice a higher tone than usual. I knew i couldn't blackmail him about that forever but it was nice while it lasts.

" You can't use that against me anymore, He already knows." A smirk grew on his face, My smile dropped.

Luna stayed still next to me as i looked around nervously, he could actually discipline me now.

I narrowed my eyes at him, "So you're telling me, he just doesn't care about what you did?" I asked.

He chuckled, "I didn't raise you to be arrogant-"

"You barley raised me, you were always to busy at death eater meetings than to raise me. You can't fool anyone." His eyes widened then traveled over to Luna.

Oh shit.

He grabbed just my wrist this time and dragged me to Dumbledores office, he most likely only took me their because i would get into bigger trouble now that Dumbledore would think i was the only one out late. Knowing Luna she most likely wouldn't tell anyone but there was still that chance. If she did, Voldemort had every right to kill me.
