Chapter 17

River

We reached Hogwarts late that night, around 11pm.

With Severus with us it was easy to get back into the building with the guards. We simply just walked in once they saw Snape walking close behind us.

No one was out considering it was past curfew so at least i wouldn't have to worry about bumping into someone at this hour. I just really wasn't ready for all the dirty looks i would get, breakfast tomorrow would be interesting.

As we reached closer to the Slytherin common room Severus grabbed my wrist and turned me to face him. " Listen to me closely River." He said seriously, "You cannot put your trust in anyone, I don't need you getting hurt by a heartbroken student. Many people loved Dumbledore so you're not safe here. You have to be smart." He continued, He nodded to Draco before wondering off upstairs.

I knew they made a deal about protecting me, Narcissa had told me about it a few days ago but i didn't think they would actually be so serious about me staying safe.

" Come on." Draco said pulling me by my arm downstairs to the brick wall.

I knew no one was aloud in the common room past hours but there was still that slight chance because lets be honest, no one in this house actually followed the rules around here.

He stated the password as i held my breath the wall opened to the common room. I sighed of relief when i saw no one in there.

Draco turned to me as the wall closed, " I have to go to my dorm but in the morning, Leave your dorm before Pansy wakes up, i don't want her to give you shit already." His looked sort of... scared?

I looked around the room, " Can't i be sent to Azkaban if i'm seen or something?" I asked ignoring his statement.

He chuckled, " You have very powerful people on your side River, if anyone wants to take you to Azkaban you have my entire family and Severus to back you up."

I smiled a little, that made me feel a little less alone than i really was.

I pulled him into a hug and laid my head on his chest, " I love you Draco." I could feel his heart beating faster, I smiled at the affect i had on him.

It didn't take him long to reply, "I love you too, River." He pulled out of the hug, " Now you should go. I don't want anyone to see you yet."

I nodded " Yeah...you're right." I turned for the girls dormitories, i looked back at him before disappearing up the stairs.

My dorm was quiet except for the small fan blowing in the corner of the room. Pansy was thankfully asleep so i didn't have to worry about her, I wondered over to my bed and took my shoes off. I was to tired to shower so i just changed my clothes and laid down in my bed pulling the blankets over me.

The thoughts of how tomorrow would go raced through my mind as i drifted to sleep, i truly have no idea what would happen.

Thankfully, i woke up before Pansy the next morning, It was about 7am meaning breakfast had already started, but it was normal for her to sleep in.

I walked over to my closet and quickly threw on a floral top and mom jeans as fast as i could.
