(nai's pov)

we walk out of the store and vinnie gets a phone call.

vinnie: hold on i gotta take this
charli: sure we'll go to the churro booth
vinnie: alr but don't go to a place where i can't see y'all
nai: sure

vinnie is talking to the phone while me and charli get churros, he is watching us as he speaks. he sees a guy get close and he kinda froze and stopped speaking to the person on the phone. the guy slaps our asses and he runs away. vinnie runs really fast to him and he starts beating him up. the guy started bleeding a lot. me and charli get so shocked and we run up to vinnie. we try to pull him away but he doesn't give up. a security guard then comes and he pushes them away. we get kicked out of the mall.

nai: OMG VINNIE ARE YOU OKAY?!
charli: WHY DID U DO THAT
vinnie: i saw- i saw what he did to you

he's holding his hand over his left eye.

nai: omg let me see that.

i push his hand away and a see this huge black eye.

nai: shit vinnie we gotta take you home! charli get the car fast!
vinnie: don't worry it's nothing.
nai: no it isn't nothing!

charli pulls up. we hop into the car and charli drives us home fast.

nai: thank u for the ride i'll meet u tomorrow night.
charli: ye i'll see you.

she drives off and we go into the house. i sit vinnie down and i go get ice.

nai: shit vinnieeeeeee
vinnie: it's not that bad stop overreacting
nai: shut up u know it's bad
vinnie: whatever

i'm standing in front of him holding the ice. we lock eyes for 10 seconds

vinnie: nai
nai: yea?
vinnie: give me your phone
nai: what why
vinnie: just give me it

i give him my phone and i see him going to snap, he's searching up someone. he adds them and then i hear his phone ding.

vinnie: there u go
nai: why
vinnie: so i could protect u when kio can't.
nai: oh

we then hear kio coming home.

kio: are you guys there?
nai: we're in here!

kio comes into the kitchen when he notices vinnies black eye.

kio: shit dude what the fuck happened!!!!
vinnie: nothing
nai: he beat someone up
kio: why?!
vinnie: no reason just an old enemy
nai: dude?

i look at vinnie and he's shaking his head. i then turn to kio to tell him the truth.

nai: someone grabbed me and charli's ass
kio: WHAT THE FUCK. WHO IS HE?!
nai: just a random dude we don't know him.
kio: where the FUCK is he?!

kio looks furious.

vinnie: he's gone dude
kio: FUCK
vinnie: calm down i gave him a lesson
kio: thank you
vinnie: don't even worry about it. i would never let someone touch them
kio: well are u guys okay
vinnie: yeah we're fine, i didn't get to buy something for the party until we got kicked out so could u maybe go there and buy some white shirt?
kio: yeah sure

kio takes his keys and leaves again. i turn to vinnie.

nai: why did u lie
vinnie: i didn't want him to get mad at me
nai: why would he get mad at you
vinnie: maybe bc i left you guys?
nai: that was nothing u left for a couple seconds and u were STILL watching over us.
vinnie: yeah ig
nai: well the bruise is a little bit better, he punched u real good
vinnie: shut up i easily won that
nai: naaahhh he won that
vinnie: shut the fuck up
nai: make me

we both just freeze. why the fuck did i say that i'm so stupid.

we lock eyes and we're really close together. i lean in and i'm just there for a second. i can feel his heavy breath over my mouth. i lean in more and i kiss him.
