-Maya-

Santiago and Noah came back into my apartment as I sat on my stained couch. "So..." Santiago's voice trailed away. "What is it?" I asked. "You're gonna be moving in with Noah."
My mouth parted into a O as Noah stood there unfazed. "Absolutely not!" I said as I stood from my seat. "Maya this is our best option." Protected by New York's famous mafia? Great strategy brother.

"That isn't your decision to make. I'm 23 now I can defend myself and do things on my own!" I said to my brother. "I know that but I'd rather know my little sister is alive and protected than dead and alone." My brother yelled at me. I couldn't believe Santi right now. I walked to my room and slammed the door.

No matter how much I throw a fit, Santi won't change his mind so I slowly started packing my things. I stuffed all my clothes into a giant trash bag, giving myself flashbacks of my 8 year old self.

Small knocks hit my door. "Go away." I said in a annoyed voice. I didn't bother looking when I heard the door open and close. "Santi I said go away!" I yelled. I turned to see Noah leaning against the closed door.

"What do you want?" I said as I crossed my arms over my chest. He stood with his hands in his pockets.
I won't lie, he's attractive, but his attractiveness is a sin. His brown hair went in different directions but he made it look good. His grey eyes hold a storm that I want to drown in. His body was tall and muscular, and the leather jacket he was wearing made him 10x better in my opinion.

There wasn't a doubt that my body reacted in ways I wish it didn't around him but it doesn't change anything. Men like Noah are only built for one thing in this cruel world, Wickedness.

"After 8 years, you still have that smart mouth." He said as his eyes trailed me. "And after 8 years you still can't leave a girl alone." I said as I continued to pack my bags.

"Santiago is doing this because he cares about you. He didn't mean to upset you." Why is he telling me this? I don't need his pity. "Yeah I know." I said as I finished packing my last bag with my essentials. Noah's footsteps came closer to me as they hit the wood floor covered in glass. He grabbed onto my trash bag of clothes and my bag of essentials. "I can take that myself." I said. "No. You should talk to your brother while I go put this is my car."

His arm brushed against my leg as he kneeled down to grab my bag. I felt his eyes burning into my skin at my reaction to his touch. Fuck.

He took my bags with him out of my room at the same time Santiago came in. "Hey." I stood with my arms still crossed over my chest. "I get your upset but I don't want anything to happen to you. I already lost mom and dad, I can't lose you." He said as he tugged me into a hug. His mention of mami and papi brought tiny tears. "I understand." I whispered.

"Promise me you'll be careful. Noah isn't as bad as he comes off." He said. This comment on Noah made me think what the real Noah is vs what the city portrays him. I put my right hand over my heart. "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." I said. Santi rolled his eyes at me.

I walked out with Santi to Noah's car. "Ready?" Noah asked me. I nodded. I gave Santi a hug, getting into Noah's car after and driving away from my once quiet place.

The whole ride to Noah's was quiet but I appreciated it. I need the quietness to keep me sane, and mostly from exploding in tears while being in a car with him again.
When we drove into Noah's house, I was amazed. I heard about the Slade mansion but coming face to face with it was a different story.

The exterior was white with spots of glossy black to bring the house balance. A garden was on each side of the entrance and a fountain with a giant dove was in the middle of the driveway.
