-Noah-

I stare at the ceiling as I recall Maya's request yesterday at the ball. I don't know how I'll be if she turns away once she see's that side of me.

A few small knocks hit my door, making me lift myself up to sit up on my bed. "Come in." Maya opened the door as she smiled while walking, lighting up my dark room and thoughts.

"I made breakfast." She eagerly says as she flops herself on my bed. "You cooked?" "I know, shocking." We both chuckled together at her comment.
"Is everything okay?" She asked me. I lift her off my bed and make her sit on my lap. "I've been thinking about what you said yesterday." Maya stared down at me, waiting for my answer.

"I don't know if I'll have any strength if you choose to go." I whispered as I pressed my forehead against her chest. "Noah." She said. Her hands went to my cheeks, lifting my head off her. "I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to see." She gave me her usual warm smile, the one that makes the anxious feeling inside me disappear.

I pressed the right side of my face back on Maya's chest as I wrap my arms around her to tightly hug her. "Stop being a big baby!" She playfully said as she ran her fingers in my hair. "Stop talking." I said. "Why? Am I that annoying?" Again with her dumb jokes.
"No, because I can't hear your heartbeat when you're speaking."

We stayed in our position for a few minutes. I focused as her heartbeat increased when my hands massaged her back.

I finally got up and went to eat the breakfast Maya made. After I finished, I sat still staring at my empty plate. "You don't have to if you're not ready." Maya said behind me as she placed a hand on my shoulder. "No, it's okay." I said as I took her hand into mine. I kiss her hand as I take her down to the basement.

When I walked down, everyone was sitting in the lounge area. "Hey guys." I said, catching their attention. Their eyes switched from me to Maya. "She's down here." Jax said. "I know." "Does this mean?" Sophie says. "No, absolutely not." I say to her in a serious tone. I take Maya away from the lounge and first take her to our weapons room.

When I open the door Maya face turns shocked. Her lips part and she stares around the room of different guns and weapons around the wall. She slowly walks into the room, running her fingers across the guns.

I shut the door to give me and Maya some privacy. I open a drawer and take out a heart shaped box.
I stood behind Maya as she kept staring at the different weapons in front of her. When she turned around, her eyes fell to the box in my hand. "What is that?" She asked. I took her hand and led her to sit on my lap.

"Last night, I realized that sometimes I can't be with you." My hand massaged her thigh as she listened to me.
"You have no idea how much my heart sank when I saw the limo explode. I thought you were in there." Maya lifted my chin and held my face in her hands.

"I'm okay." She whispered to me. I took her hand off my cheek and placed a kiss on it. I move to grab the box off the floor and place it on her lap. "I want you to keep this with you at all times." She stared at me for a moment before she opened the box.

A black pistol surrounded by bullets laid in the red box. "Noah. This is too much." She said as she lifted the gun out of the box. "I don't even know how to properly use a gun!" She complained. I lifted up from the seat and took her hand to take her out of the room.

I open the metal door to our personal gun range. I stand behind Maya while she faces the targets. "Just aim and shoot for right now." I said into her ear. I place a headset on her as I watch her practice.

It's good to know Maya can hit people around her. She's hit every target except the one in front of her, which is confusing to me. I placed my hands on her hips as she fires again, making her bullet go into the target on her right.

"I can't do this." She whines. "Keep your arms stiff." I say as I put my hands on hers. "You have no strength in your arms." "Excuse me?" She said as she brought down her gun. "You heard me."

Maya lifts her gun and fires shots in a row. I stand back and she finishes shooting the target. "Wait." She says. I smile to myself as she realizes she hit the target in front of her. "I did that?" She asks. "You did."

Maya drops her gun and jumps into my arms. I've never seen her so excited. "Thank you!" She cheers into my ear. "For what?" I laugh about. "Teaching how to use a gun. Now when you piss me off I know what to do." She says as she jumps away from me. Excuse me, what?

In this basement, I've always seen myself as a monster. I've done bad things to people in between this walls. To be fair, only to those who deserve it, but it doesn't change the things I've done.

But when it comes to Maya, she closes any door that is surrounded by negativity and showers me in her presence.
I pray for her light to never dim when she comes down here more often.

The truth behind me and Maya is we're a chaotic mess. She's the powerful light that shines in my dark world. She's the beauty as I'm the beast.

I don't want a perfect fairytale where the prince and princess marry and live happy ever after. I want the risk taking, crazy story.
I want ours.
