16 | I'm not the one

-Noah-

I danced with Maya while they played a slow song. "Do you think Santi is watching us?" She asked. "Why do you care?" "Because I don't want him to be upset with me." I pulled back to face Maya.

"Maya, if he truly wants you to be happy, he'll be okay." She didn't bother looking in my eyes. I took her chin and made her face me. "You're happy with me right?" "Of course, why would you think I'm not?" "You keeping our relationship from Santiago." She took my hand off her chin and interlocked it with hers. "Let me tell him on my own time." I nodded, bringing myself closer to her again.

Suddenly a loud bang rang in the venue. "What the fuck." Maya said. I pushed Maya behind me. Everyone started standing front their seats staring towards where the sound came from.

Another loud bang hit and people started running in fear. Sophie and Liam ran up to me, so did Jax and Elena. "Sophie, take Maya to the limo." Sophie nodded and grabbed Maya behind me.

I took out my gun from my pocket and ordered the rest of them to do the same. I hid behind a table as the gunshots stopped. I cocked my gun and pointed to the hallway that we heard it from.

Without thinking, I came out from my hiding spot and shot towards the hallway. A bullet came flying back towards me, scratching my shoulder and making me fall back. "Fuck!" I screamed out. I saw Liam in the corner of my eye shoot down whoever was in the hallway.

"Noah are you okay?" Jax came running to me. "I'm fine." I tried to lift myself off the ground but my left shoulder had no strength. Jax lifted me off the ground and made me sit on a chair. Liam dragged the man he shot to us.

"What do you want?" Elena yelled to the man. "Ay hermosa, must you be so rude?" The guy played. Jax shot a bullet into his knee, making him groan in pain. "Answer the fucking question." I yelled. "Maya Castillo." The man said out loud.

"What do you want with her?" I asked. "It's not what I want, it's what he wants." Obviously these men have been taking orders from someone else. "What does he want?" Jax asked. "He wants her dead, along with Santiago."

The thought of finding both Maya and Santiago lifeless in front of me made anger overtake me. I gripped the guy by his collar and brought him closer to me. "If you lay a fucking hand on either one of them I will send a bullet into your fucking head you bitch." I yelled to him. "I'm not the one you should be worrying about." He said with a small smirk on his face.

Just then, a loud explosion was heard from outside the venue. I look over to see my limo in flames. Maya. A fucking distraction, how could I have been so naive?

I release my grip on the mans collar and rush towards the door. I see Sophie take Maya away from the explosion, making me let out a breath of relief.

"Please tell me Mr. Slade. You care about Maya so much and will do anything to protect her, correct?" The man asked with a grin on his face. "Why the hell are you asking?" I look over my shoulder.

"Because who will protect Maya when she finds out the truth about your family, especially your father?"

I've heard enough from him. I took my gun and shot a bullet into his head. He fell onto the floor as blood flooded around his body. "Clean this shit up." I told Liam, Jax, and Elena. I left to find Sophie and Maya.

The second I opened the door, Maya came running towards me. "Noah you're bleeding!" She said as she reached for my shoulder. The blood had stained my white shirt. "I'm fine." "Don't bullshit me." She said, dragging me back into the venue.

"Maya stop!" Before I could catch her, she paused in front of Liam and Jax dragging the mans body across the floor. "Shit." I muttered under my breath. Maya didn't move. She stood there, not saying a word.

"Maya say something." I whispered behind her. She lost her balance for a second. "You both need to hurry up before someone else sees you!" She yelled out to Liam and Jax. She dragged me away from them into a private room.

She pushed me down to sit in a chair as she went to a cabinet to grab a first aid kit. "Maya." "What Noah?" She said frustrated. "I didn't want you to see that."
She looked down at the first aid in her hands as she walked towards me. "I'm used to it."

Questions spiraled in my mind at what Maya meant by that. I didn't bother pushing her to speak. Maya is the type to speak on her own time, and I'll respect that.

She opened the first aid and unbuttoned my shirt. "Maya I'm wounded, we can't do this now." I said to her. She hit my chest. "Stop it!" I chuckled at the pink shade covering her cheeks.
"What if I don't want to?"

Maya applied pressure to my wound. I hissed from the pain. "Stop fucking around." She rolled her eyes at me. Maya finished tending my wound, wrapping in with a bandage. As she got up to put the first aid away, I stopped her.

My thumb rubbed against the cool skin of her hand. I pulled her to sit on my lap. My fingers ran through her hair. "You're doing it again." I ignored her, sinking my chin into her shoulder. "I have no idea what you're talking about." I placed small pecks on her neck. Her breathing turning heavy. "Stop. Someone could walk in."

"And? You think they want to watch? Shit, I would." I bring her closer to me as I wrap my hand behind her neck. Maya gladly listens to my silent command and throws her head back for me. I kiss around her neck as small moans leave her mouth.

"Noah." She moaned out. The way she says my name makes me want to devour every inch of her.

"Noah stop." She pushed me off. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I don't want to do this without." She stared off into the distance for a moment. "Without what Maya?"
"Without knowing the real you." I was confused on what she meant. She sat back down on my lap.

"Show me your dark parts. Take me to the basement. I don't want things hidden from me anymore." She said as she placed her hand against my cheek.

"Maya, I don't know if I can." I looked down at her thighs on my lap. "Why?"
"Because I'm afraid you'll be scared of who I become when I'm in that state."
