Trigger Warning: Murder

-Noah-
10 years ago. Brooklyn, New York.

"I'm sorry guys but my mom is asking for me to come home." I say on my phone call. "Lame!" One of my friends yell out. "Yeah yeah, have fun." I say before hanging up.

I drive home only to see my dads car in the driveway. I call my mom but no answer. I decided to go inside and wait for her to come home.
When I walk in, I hear crying coming from the kitchen. "Hello?" I call out. "Noah!" I hear my mom scream out.

I run towards the kitchen only to see my mom laying on the floor in a pool of her own blood.

I take my mom in my arms and lift her off the kitchen floor. "What the fuck happened?" I ask. My mom used all her strength to pull herself up. "You need to leave." She mutters. "I'm not leaving you." I say back.

I hear my dad walk into the kitchen, watching my mom is distressed like it's nothing. "Go to your room Noah." He says. "No." I yell. "Noah I'm not arguing about this with you." My dad scowls at me.
"Can't you see how bad mom looks?" I yell while I hold my mom. "She's fine." He says.

"Noah please just go." My mom whispers out. "Absolutely not!" "Listen to your mother Noah." My dad furiously says. "Shut up! I'm not leaving until I see you do something decent for my mom!" I yell at my dad.

My dad takes a deep breath in and takes his gun from from his pocket. He cocks his gun and quickly shoots a bullet into my moms head.

The sudden action causes me and stand still in shock for a moment. My moms body falls to the floor. The sound of her body hitting the floor makes me shiver inside.

"There. Now go to your room." My dad says, heartlessly as always. He walks away from the scene of my mother lifeless in front of me.

"How could you do that?" I yell. "Watch your tone!" My dad yells back at me.
"You shot her with no remorse." "She was nothing!"

Hearing my dad call her nothing broke me.
She was everything to me. She taught me how to love, care, and feel.
And now she's gone.

"I can't even look at you." I furiously say to my dad. "You are me." He says. "I will never be like you." "You need to realize that my blood runs in your veins. Whether you like it or not, you are me."

I walk past my dad but he grabs my jacket and pulls me back towards him. "Listen here boy! She was just another woman in this house. She wasn't anything to me, nor you." He scowls at me. "She was my mom! You might've not loved her but I did!" I yell at him, pushing him off.

I go upstairs, not turning back to my dad calling me. I slam my door and slide against the door. I had the rug pulled from under my feet and I wasn't ready.

I close my eyes and tears roll down my face. Memories of me and my mom replay in my head, making my heart ache.

A loud pound hits behind me. "Open the door Noah!" My dad yells behind the door. I don't bother answering. He hits the door harder. "Don't you have work to do?" I ask sarcastically.

I open my door and see my dad standing unfazed. "I want nothing to do with you." I say to him. "You know what you have to do in 3 years." He says. "I don't care. I want you gone."

I take my gun from my pocket and point it to my dad. "Do it." He says.
"Do it like I did."

I lower my gun and my dad snatches it away from me. "Don't ever point your gun at me again." He furiously says. "I'm leaving." I push past him and go downstairs.

"Get back here Noah!" He yells. I walk outside and turn on my car. I drive out quickly and cry in my car on the way to my friends house.

I knock on their down, unstable inside. "Please answer." I whisper to myself. My best friend opens the front door.
"Noah, what time is it?" Santiago asks me. I don't bother telling him and I crash myself into a large hug.

Santiago doesn't say anything as he wraps his arms around me. I silently cry into my best friends shoulder, thinking about the woman I looked up to was now looking down on me.

We stay for a moment before separating from our hug. "What happened?" He asks. "I don't really wanna talk about it." I say. Santiago nods and let's me inside his apartment.

"Are your parents home?" I ask. Santiago shakes his head. "My sister is sleeping." I sit on his couch and watch the time pass, every minute longer than the other.

I spent the night on Santiago's couch and when I wake up, I see 18 missed calls from my dad.

I went to grab my phone but something inside me stopped me.
This is the man I was related to. No matter how much I hate it, his blood was running in my veins.

But so was my mother's. Unlike him, I would rather burn in hell than be like him.
I promise myself to make my mom proud.

To find someone that I love and loves me. To care for those around me like she did for me.

I hear running behind me, seeing a flash on a young girl running. "Sorry I'm late, bye!" She yells before running out the front door.

I didn't get a full glimpse but something triggered inside me just watching her run past me.

I don't think much of it. But what I did think about is the horrific thing my dad did. No matter how much I hate him, I can't let anyone know what he did. This event will remain a secret.

I get ready and go on with my life, without knowing that she would be the one.

Thank you for reading today's chapter.

I thought if you knew what happened in the past and why Noah hates his dad so much it would help the story a lot more.
I know it was a little sad but it builds character !

I hope you enjoyed today's chapter. Stay healthy and safe, I love you babes. -R. <3
