THE NEXT DAY

Alaya's POV:

Alex and I had planned to meet outside the campus's west building. I must have arrived before he did, because he was nowhere to be seen. I sat on a huge rock, waiting for him.

My phone made a ringing noise.

Alex: Hey Alaya, I'm on my way to campus via bicycle.🚴‍♂️ Will be another 10 minutes or so as there's traffic about. 🤦‍♂️ Have you reached?

Alaya: Hey Alex, I've arrived. I'll get myself a hot drink then and wait for you by the big rock. Do you want me to grab one for you? 😊

Alex: Yes please. I could do with a hot drink. ☕

Alaya: What would you like?

Alex: Surprise me. 😉

I couldn't help but smile as I read his message. I didn't want to admit it but I was looking forward to seeing Alex. Every time I received a text message from him, I felt these flutters in my stomach.

It was a cool but pleasant morning. The air was becoming warmer, so I knew the weather was going to be nice today. I figured after our meeting with the professor we might sit down and eat breakfast together.

I arrived at the canteen and placed my drink order. I ordered a flat white for myself and a golden caramel latte for Alex. I guessed he hadn't eaten breakfast, so I added two chocolate twist pastries to our order.

I spotted Alex waiting by the huge rock as I headed back to the west building. He was dressed in navy blue co-ord tapered joggers and a matching navy blue hoodie. He shook his hair after removing his riding helmet, which had messed up his mousey brown hair. He still looked good though. When he saw me, he grinned and winked at me, and my stomach began to flutter. I'm not sure why, but my heart began to race, and I found myself breathing in and out to calm myself down. What was going on with me, I wondered. To distract myself I held the drinks up to show him that I had gotten his order.

"You finally made it," I told him.

"There was no way I wasn't going to turn up.'' He said.

I handed him his pastry and drink.

"Thanks Alaya. I didn't have time to eat breakfast. Is it possible to eat and drink later? I really want to catch Professor Green before everyone else arrives?"

"Sure, That's exactly what I was thinking, that following our meeting with the professor, we could have breakfast together."  When I stated that, I couldn't help but notice a large grin form on his face. I must confess, I was thrilled with his reaction.

Alex had parked his bike in one of the designated bike parking spaces. We both made our way to the west building's entrance. Alex welcomed me inside by opening the front door, and my heart swelled with joy and anticipation. I thought to myself, 'This is where I'm supposed to be.'  I couldn't take my eyes away from the paintings in the corridor as we walked up to Alex's class. There are so many talented students I thought. Would I be accepted?

Alex's painting caught my eye once more. I had forgotten how much I adored it. I thought he was incredibly gifted. Alex must have sensed my apprehension because when I turned to him to gesture to the door of his class, he said '' The professor is going to love your art work. You got this''. Out of no where he grabbed my hand as we came through the door. I couldn't stop myself from blushing. At his touch, I could feel butterflies blossoming in my stomach again. Was Tori right? Did Alex like me? The real question now, I thought, was whether or not I liked him. Surely not. We have only known each other for a few days.

Hey lovelies, I hope you are enjoying the relationship between our two soon to be love birds. I don't want to rush their love as I would like convey the purity of their feelings for one another and how they are both going to be each others support. Don't forget to vote and comment- S 😊
