Wei Wuxian knew that he would have to talk about it eventually, but he didn't think it'd be this soon. Daiyu sat in front of him calmly sipping her tea, waiting for a response. He knew that he shouldn't have even attempted to hide his small problem from an actual goddess which is what got him here.

"So are you going to tell me why you don't have a golden core, or am I going to have to force it out of you?"

"You can't force me to do anything," Wei Wuxian puted and turned away.

"Sword summoning." Huh? All of a sudden a boy around 12 years old with short hair and golden eyes popped out.

"At your service my lady."

"Who is this?" Wuxian asked, very confused.

"This is my sword spirit, Jun, which translates to truth. He can get anyone to tell the truth."

"WHAT!? That's unfair," Wuxian exclaimed.

"So will you speak, or will I make you speak?" she said with the same slight smile, Wuxian was annoyed.

"Fine, fine."

"Great," Daiyu said, clapping her hands together, making Jun disappear.

"I used to live on the streets, but the Jiang family took me in. They gave me a good life, in return for me protecting their two children, who were like my siblings. At the beginning of the war, my brother, Jiang Cheng, lost his golden core. So, I did what I promised, I protected him. I had Wen Qing transfer our golden cores. What I didn't expect was to get thrown into the Burial Mounds right after it, which meant I had to turn to demonic cultivation."

"Oh wow, you're more stupid than I thought." Wuxian gawked at her.

"And you're more mean than I thought."

"Seriously, how are you supposed to protect him when you can barely keep your body from falling apart. By the way, if you were a child, a safe home shouldn't come with conditions." Wuxian pondered this over for a moment.

"Nothing I can do about it now."

"Don't give me a sad speech. You still have spiritual energy, it's just very small, but that doesn't mean it's gone. I can probably help you form a new core, not that I ever tried."

"Really?" Wuxian looked at her with hopeful eyes.

"Hm, might as well try." She took Wuxians wrist and started transferring small amounts of her spiritual energy, so she wouldn't overwhelm him. She could feel a small core starting to form, but if she put any more energy in, it would corrupt his system.

"You're going to have to recultivate it, but it shouldn't take that much work considering we have a lot of spiritual energy. However, I don't want you using demonic energy anymore." He had tears coming down his cheeks.

"Thank you."

"Hm."
