Chapter Twenty Eight

Dimitri

"DIMITRI HELP" Lydia screamed as she slumped to her knees next too Oriana's unmoving body, her hands hovering above her stomach oozing blood. Tears were flooding down her face as she whimpered softly staring down at Oriana. "JAMIE CALL AN AMBULANCE" Lydia yelled out as she turned to face him. I saw him standing of to the side frozen. His eyes were wide and fear was etched into his features.

I followed his gaze as he stared over Lydia and Oriana's heads. He was watching Blake intently as he stood back from the scene. He just stood there watching her die. Anger boiled up inside of me as I watched him as a sadistic smile crept over his features.

Lydia was crying, screaming and panicking. Oriana was lying on the ground loosing excessive amounts of blood. Jamie was frozen stock still in fear. Blake was smiling gleefully happy. Everything was spinning around me. I couldn't think straight. Gripping my hands in my hair tightly I crouched down close to the floor tucking my head into my chest squeezing my eyes shut. I didn't know what to do, what I could do. Lydia's screams and crying played as a background to the horror unfolding around me.

Suddenly she stopped. It was so sudden that it took me a moment to realise that her screams had really stopped. The air around me had become thick and ice cold. I snapped my eyes open and lifted my head up to stare around me. I was still in the cemetery in town but everything was different.

The trees that were scattered around between the headstones were now all twisted into grotesque shapes and the headstones were stretched and squashed leaning out of the ground in all different directions. The fog hung limply in the air thick and still just hanging there. There was no breeze and everything was still. I lifted my head higher and stared up at the now black sky, the green and grey shadows and colours that littered the world below it were lit by a large full moon that was the only source of light.

I pushed myself up from my crouched position and spun slowly in a circle, drinking in the misshapen cemetery around me. Stepping forward I waved my arm slowly through the fog and it wrapped around my arm tightly squeezing it. Panic surged through me as it latched onto my arm refusing to let go. I shook my arm violently and pulled at it with my other hand finally snapping it and the remainder around my arm slipped away, slithering to the floor.

Stepping around it I moved forward. Silence was surrounding me remembering Lydia's screams being violently cut off. Gasping in shock I ran towards the place where Lydia should be crouching besides Oriana's body. The fog parted and revealed a large deep red black stain on the dying grass in the place where Oriana's body should be. Lydia was also gone. I whipped round, my eyes wide in confusion. Jamie was also gone and I turned around again to see that Blake was also gone.

I felt fear wash over me. I had no idea where I was or where the others were. I ran my hand through my hair as I continued to whip around, scanning my eyes over every inch of the cemetery for any sign of any one else. My breathing began to become deeper and quicker.

A slight movement in my peripheral vision to my left caught my attention. I twisted round to face that direction and I saw her, Oriana. She was sitting propped up against a headstone, her knees pulled up to her chest with her head resting against them and her arms wrapped tightly round her legs. I sighed in relief before terror rippled through me as I remembered she was injured.

Dodging the tendrils of smoke that whispered at my ankles as I ran and skipping over the rocky ground with tree roots sticking up in precarious positions ready to trip me, I ran towards her. My heart was hammering in my chest and I began to slow as I reached her.
