The following days after Y/N came back to the common room injured, she's never seen walking down the hallways without being accompanied by anyone who's in Slytherin. This is also taking a toll on Y/N and adding to one of the things she have to think about a lot. First being blamed on opening the so called 'Chamber Of Secrets', Hearing voices all around the castle and her black lines constantly appearing.
Being the stubborn person Y/N is. She sneaked out of the common room to the library. She needs to find the Diary hoping that it has the answers about the recent attacks inside the school.
When she got there Madam Pince is not there on top of that the Library is deserted.
She looked everywhere but no avail. Y/N sat down on one of the couch to take a rest. Now that you've think about it, Y/N only carries the Diary in the Library or Common Room. But still the bloody book is nowhere to be found. Leaving a groan she stood up and started to go back to her dormitory but stopped when she caught a glimpse of a bushy-haired girl on the the side of her eyes.
Y/N debated on whether she asks if Hermione saw a black covered book or just walk away.
She approached her.
Hermione is too focused on the book she is reading to even notice Y/N walking up behind her. She tapped the Gryffindor's shoulders to get her attention which it did. Hermione looked at her with an annoyed expression. Y/N held up both her hand assuring her she's not going to do anything bad.
"What do you want?" She asked sharply glaring at the Slytherin.
"Sorry, I just want to ask if you saw a black covered book laying around" Y/N scratched the back of her neck looking away from her brown eyes.
Hermione rolled her eyes and closed her book.
"I did, The last time I saw you here with my cat. I asked Ginny to give it back to you which I guess she hasn't yet"
Y/N was about to ask something but the Gryffindor beats her to it.
"Could I ask you something"
She nodded hesitantly not liking where their conversation is going.
"It's been bugging me since first year and I really shouldn't be thinking about it up until now. It has been a year now but I still couldn't let it pass and I couldn't find the right time to ask you because we're always bickering at each other or you're always with your Slytherin friend who doesn't like the presence of a muggle-born like me-"
"Slow down, Granger. You're rambling" Y/N held Hermione's shoulders to make her stop which she did. The Gryffindor stepped back and apologized taking a deep breath before continuing.
"Last year when went out to get the stone. Why did you help us? How did you know about it too and why were you pointing your wand at Harry before I tackled you down"
Y/N stood there frozen.
She couldn't tell her the reason why she got there to be in their rescue but ended up being controlled by the two- faced cotton bud.
"The lot of you looked like needing some backup. I may have overheard your conversation with your friends on planning to stop Snape from taking the stone and I didn't know why I was pointing my wand at Harry in the first place"
There was an uncomfortable silence for fifteen seconds until Y/N spoke again.
"Do you believe the rumors about me being the Heir?"
Hermione's eyes widened at the sudden question. "My opinion doesn't matter wether or not I believe it." She looked away squirming which didn't go unnoticed by the Slytherin.
