"Hey, Gina right?" Ricky asked as he approached the curly headed girl, and she nodded slowly.

"Uh- yeah. How do you—"

"We're in the same biology class" Ricky said knowing exactly what she was about to say. Gina wasn't exactly well known around the school, so she didn't know how Ricky knew her name

"Oh yeah" Gina chuckled lightly "what's up Ricky?"

"Well I noticed you're kinda close with Nini—" he said kinda nervously. The conversation was undoubtably awkward

"Yeah she's my best friend" Gina said simply. She knew exactly where this was going but she wanted to see exactly how it would unfold

"Well uh she asked me if I wanted to go to the movies tonight, and she doesn't really talk much but I know that she talks to you. I was just um I was wondering if there's anything I should or shouldn't say? Or any advice you'd have"

"First of all, that's really sweet that you asked." She said and Ricky smiled slightly digging in his pockets nervously. "Second, it's not my business to tell you exactly what but Nini has been through a lot. Just be careful of what exactly what you say. Don't ask about her parents and don't push her to try to talk if it doesn't come naturally." She said and Ricky nodded taking in the information.

"Got it" Ricky said before walking off

"Oh and Ricky" Gina said grabbing his attention "whatever you do, DO NOT call her Nina" he nodded before walking off to his lunch table where his friends were sitting.

"So, where were you?" Kourtney asked as Ricky sat at the lunch table empty handed. He wasn't in the mood to eat

"I was just talking to Gina" he shrugged and all his friends looked at each other confused

"Isn't that the girl who hangs with the quiet chick?" Ej asked and Ricky instantly shot him glares

"Her name is Nini, but yeah that's her best friend" Ricky answered matter a factly. He found it disrespectful that Ej called Nini the 'quiet chick' when none of them know what she's been through or why she's quiet.

"Why were you talking to her" Ashlyn asked

"Can I not have a conversation with someone outside this group now?" Ricky asked with a slight chuckle

"Dude, you know that's not what she meant" Red replied

"Anyways, what were you guys talking about before I got here?"

Ricky pulled up to Nini's house at 6:00 on the dot and took a deep breath trying to shake his nerves. He kept repeating in his head what Gina told him earlier trying his best not to say the wrong thing at any point in the night.

His thoughts were interrupted by Nini entering the car. Ricky took in each and every aspect of Nini's outfit and how good she looked in it.

She wore a white long sleeve t shirt with red roses running down the sleeves and small writing in the right hand corners. She paired the shirt with a pair of blue ripped jeans and styled her hair into a curly half up half down style.

"Hi Nini" Ricky smiled slightly as the girl sat quietly in his car

"Hi" she responded quietly. Nini became nervous around people in general but she was a different kind of nervous with Ricky. She just couldn't put her finger on why she was this nervous
