"So uh how have you been?" Nini's mother asked almost...nervously? It was unusual for Nini because she had never seen her mom nervous before."Look...mom. I'm not here to catch up with you or to talk things out. I'm here to hear your side of the story. I'm here to figure out why you didn't love me. I'm here to figure out why you chose the bottle over me every single day of my life. And I'm here to figure out why you left me each and every single one of these scars." Nini scrunched up her sleeves revealing the scars that were scattered all over her Arms.
Her mother looked at the scars in disbelief shocked that she could even do that. That wasn't the person that she wanted to be, and she felt terrible that she put her daughter through that.
"And that's not even half of them" Nini scoffed.
It was all her mother's fault. The reason she couldn't wear short sleeves. The reason everytime she looked at herself in the mirror, she was disgusted with what she saw.
"Do you realize the amount of pain, heartache and trauma that you put me through? I will never be normal. I'll always live in fear because of you"
"Nini I'm so sorr—"
"I don't want your sympathy. I'm far past wanting your apologies. Just—just tell me why you did it. All of it."
"Well it all started when you were eleven turning twelve"
Flashback
"Mommy look! I got first place in the spelling bee! I won because Ally couldn't spell independence but I could!" Nini exclaimed as soon as she entered the house seeing her mother.
"That's so good baby! I'm so proud of you!" She took Nini into a hug "and just because I'm so proud of you, I'm gonna cook your favorite for dinner!"
"Steak and mashed potatoes?" Nini asked excitedly and her mother nodded
"Now go upstairs and get cleaned up while I cook"
Nini hurried up the stairs getting cleaned up with a smile plastered across her face. She found so much satisfaction in the fact that her mother was proud of her.
Nini knew it would take a while for her mother to prepare the meal so to pass time she laid on her phone.
After about 45 minutes passed the food was all done, and smelled amazing.
"Nini honey! Foods ready!" Her mother called up the stairs and Nini came rushing down the stairs excitedly
"The food looks and smells so good mommy!" Nini exclaimed placing a kiss on her mother's cheek
"Thank you baby! You deserve it" Nini's mother said as she fixed Nini's plate. "Now eat up! You need the nutrients to be strong!"
Nini nodded as she happily ate from the plate "mommy do you know what time daddy is coming home? I want to tell him all about the spelling bee! I know he'll be so happy" Nini beamed as she picked up a spoonful of mashed potatoes
"He should be home soon. He got off work about 10 minutes ago. I'm sure he'll be just as proud of you as I am"
"What else happened at school today baby?"
"Well I think ally was upset that I won the spelling bee instead of her because instead sitting next to me at lunch she eat all the way on the other side of the table. I didn't care though because I worked so hard to win."
Just as Nini's mother was about to say something her husband entered the kitchen.
"Hi daddy!" Nini said enthusiastically
