"It's like 100 degrees outside today, it's been hot but this hot? It should be illegal" Gina said as her and Nini walked to their lunch table"It's not even summer anymore, why is it this hot outside?" Nini whined, especially considering that even though it's crazy hot housing she still has to wear long sleeves, Gina tried to convince her to at least roll the sleeves up on her shirt but she refused
"Hi guys!" Ashlyn walked up to the two girls smiling brightly
"Umm hi?" Gina said confused as to why the girl was talking to her. She knew that the girl was one of Ricky's friends but that still didn't exactly explain why she was talking to them
"Me and my friends were wondering if you guys wanted to sit at the table with us. We had so much fun with Nini when she sat with us before" Ashlyn said causing Gina to raise a brow.
"Uh yeah sure, just give us a sec" Gina said and Ashlyn nodded walking away
"You sat with them before? When was this?" Gina asked turning to her best friend
"Remember when you had that dance meeting? Ricky asked me if I wanted to sit with him and his friends and I did. I barely said anything though so I'd hardly describe it as fun" Nini said and Gina raised an eyebrow
"Somethings going on. I don't know what it is, but somethings going on" Gina said
"Uh Ashlyn, why were you just talking to Nini and Gina?" Ricky asked.
"I just asked them if they wanted to sit with us" Ashlyn shrugged and continued to eat her food.
"Why?" Ricky asked "aren't you the same one who said she was weird because she doesn't talk much?"
"Yeah but we can tell you like her so we should get to know her"Ashlyn said
"Yeah, it's not that big of a deal Ricky" big red said and Ricky simply shook his head and focused his attention back onto his food
"Hey guys" Gina smiled with her food in her hand, Nini right next to her, and the group spoke back as Gina and Nini sat down
Conversation flowed normally as Nini only talked to Gina and Ricky. She just wasn't comfortable talking to his friends. She wasn't sure if they were the type of people she wanted to associate with.
"So Nini" ej started catching the girl off guard , and Ricky became tense. He knows exactly how Ej can get and he didn't want that energy around Nini.
Nini noticed how his body language changes and began to rub her thumb back and forth across his hand causing him to relax
"It's like 100 degrees outside, you didn't want to wear a short sleeve shirt?" He asked and Gina's head shot up at his question. She knew of the scars but had never seen them before. Nini never let anyone see them.
Nini instantly froze at the question trying to figure out how she could answer the question. The answer was super personal and she wasn't comfortable telling Ej, who she barely knew the actual answer
"No" Nini said simply before turning her attention back to her food
"You're not hot?"
"I'm fine" she said wishing he'd dismiss the subject
"But it's 100 degrees outside and—"
"Dude. Just drop it! She said she's fine" Ricky said now irritated. He didn't know what his motive was asking her the question but it was none of his business.
Ricky would be lying if he said he wasn't curious too, but if she wasn't comfortable telling him he wasn't going to push her to
"Alright" Ej said putting his hands up in surrender and Nini smiled at Ricky before putting her attention back onto her food
