~A few weeks went by and Amara and Braden's skills grew together. They fought wickedly together, pushed each other to pass tests with flying colors, and strived to outdo each other at every turn. Amara was proud of them, she knew they were making their names known in the school. The usual pair who others groaned when they heard they were sparing them. Fighting together seemed to come so natural to both of them. Neither of them had to plan before. While in the throes of battle it came naturally.
It was Sunday and Amara had Braden in the library studying. Braden had finally begun to speak more with her when she asked questions, still her who had to initiate conversation, but it was a start.
They had been studying for about an hour when she set her book down getting Braden's attention."I feel we deserve a break."
Braden set his book down and shifted himself in his seat. Silent as always. Amara looked beyond him and found their Head Master strolling around the library.
"Haven't seen Akina all day. I wonder where she is."
"I saw her and Bronx together this morning."
Braden answered.
"That was why you found me in the mess-hall this morning."
"Ah."
Amara mused. Kodiak came over to them and smiled.
"Morning Wulffram."
"Morning Head Master."
They both said. He sat with them and sighed.
"Such a lovely day today. You two should spend some time outdoors, although I know you both will study your brains out of your head."
Amara laughed and said.
"We are actually taking a break now sir. I have learned to rest and refocus."
Kodiak smiled at her.
"Good to hear. As for you Wulffram Fury, I heard you are quiet fierce in team battles. Brutus speaks very highly of you."
Braden bowed his head slightly and said.
"Thank you sir."
"Almost as if I knew you'd make a good pair."
He cast a wary eye to Amara who looked away.
"I haven't any doubt in you sir."
"I know Snow. Relax. I am not here to scold you. Either of you."
Kodiak looked over at Braden and said.
"Your birthday is this weekend isn't it?"
Braden glanced over at Amara then nodded.
"Yes sir."
She crossed her arms glaring at him.
"You didn't tell me."
Kodiak chuckled and said.
"Well it is. I have granted you both the day of freedom. Pairs stick together, always. The same will be for Amara's birthday. November if I'm not mistaken."
Amara nodded. Surprised he could remember all his students' birthdays. looking back at him she met his eyes.
"You're correct."
"Braden will join you on that day as well. Now to the reason I am here."
Amara braced, a worried look crossed her face. Kodiak leaned back in his chair watching them both.
"I have heard from several of my students that you two are very experienced in fighting together."
He paused to study their faces.
