"So Damon believes that John Gilbert is Elena's father?" Cassiopeia questioned Stefan as they both exited his flashy car.

The vampire made a noise of agreement as he surveyed the area. He was all dressed up in clothes inspired by the 1860s, with his hair slicked back all neatly as opposed to his normal hero hair.

Cassy thought of a human Stefan wearing the exact same clothing. A strange thought, but if she thought hard enough then she could imagine a boy without the fangs or lust for blood. Damon on the other hand, it was impossible to see him as anything other than the sarcastic vampire she saw every day.

"So, when are you going to break the news?" She quickly dodged a group of cheerleaders that were practising their routine.

Stefan let out a long sigh. That was the only answer Cassy needed.

"Look at you, all retro," Damon spoke with a mocking smirk.

Stefan and Cassy made eye contact before the witch rolled her eyes exaggeratedly.

"What are you doing here?" Stefan said accusingly.

"Why wouldn't I be here? Bonnie deactivated the Gilbert invention, Isobel is gone and it's Founders' Day!"

At the mention of Bonnie, Cassy's eyes subverted and naturally began to scan for the girl. Her face remained stoic as to not cause any suspicion. Cassy would rather not explain to Damon why she was feeling so panicked on such a 'glorious' day.

"I'm here to eat cotton candy and steal your girl," Damon finished, his smirk only widening.

"Don't start with me, Damon."

"Oh, you started this Stefan with that whole 'I'm insecure, leave Elena alone' speech. I'm enjoying that."

"As long as you heard it," Stefan answered back, not falling for his bait.

"What?" he put his hand to his ear, then pouted when Stefan didn't respond "You have no sense of humour, Stefan,"

"Actually I've no sense of 'Damon humour'," Stefan corrected.

"'Damon humour'," The vampire grumbled "Hey look, I get it, I get it. I'm the better, hotter superior choice,"

Cassy paused her search, to shoot Damon an incredulous look. She didn't see the hype, in either of the brothers. Damon was annoying, emotional and had no care for anyones safety apart from his own (and now apparently Elena's). Stefan, on the other hand, had many personal issues, liked to pretend that everything was okay when it wasn't, and turned most conversations into trying to give 'comforting' words that Cassy personally just found awkward.

"And you're scared," Damon continued, giving Cassy a smirk "now that Katherine is out of the picture, that I'm gonna turn all my attention to Elena. But don't worry, Elena is not Katherine."
