Cassiopeia Black allowed the cold air to nip at her skin whilst she walked to school. She would have gone with Stefan, but he now rode with Elena and that didn't sound like something she wanted to deal with early in the morning.

So, she walked alone. Her hair constantly slapped at her face and her fingers had gone numb ten minutes in. However, the only sound that followed her was her own footsteps or the occasional rodent running into the bushes.

Unfortunately, this did nothing to help the paranoia that stuck to her like a shadow. Her grey eyes constantly flickered to the spaces around her to be sure that she was alone. It was a price one had to pay for knowing about the supernatural.

This, along with the constant deaths, guilt and danger that you couldn't get rid of. There weren't many advantages. There was the occasional euphoria one would get once in a while with the feeling of magic at your fingertips. And perhaps it made the smaller parts of life easier; like money or lying.

But nothing made up for the constant shiver that would run up your spine. Like the feeling of a thousand ants with their tiny legs. They enter your ears, eyes, mouth and slowly drown you until you're choking on all of the secrets and dead bodies.

Cassy hummed in relief once she reached Mystic Fall's high school. She made her way through the building, ignoring the few looks she got. Most people had gotten bored of the 'Mysterious new English girl'.

She didn't stop at her locker, finding no use for it at all. Cassy refused to use it and just stuffed all of her books into her bag with her undetectable extension charm and feather light charm.

The witch passed by Stefan who stood with Elena, they exchanged a short look. Nothing more was needed. It was simplistic, something Cassy enjoyed.

It was easy to enjoy the simpler things in life now. School only slightly annoyed her and small talk with others didn't make her jaw clench in awkwardness.

"Cassy!" The witch only just about heard her name over the rumbling of the other students. Her head turned towards the direction she heard her name.

Pushing through the herd of teenagers, was Caroline Forbes. Hair only slightly frizzy (which she quickly fixed) and a slight crazed look in her eye. Cassy allowed the blonde to catch up before they walked together.

"So..." She started, her smile having a small edge to it. "Me, Matt, Elena, Stefan, you and a hot man. Sound good?"

Cassy stopped abruptly, causing a poor freshman to crash into her shoulder. The young girl took one glance at Cassiopeia's tall figure and scurried away, squeaking out an apology. The duo payed her no mind and continued their walk.
