Hidden in the shadows of the back of the classroom, Cassy let out a small sigh. Every now and again her eyes would drift to the small clock - only having to squint slightly to read it.
She could hear the buzzing of conversation between the teacher and his students, but she didn't care enough to pay attention. Her past self would have been astounded that Cassy didn't cling to every word the teacher said, hastily scribbling every thing down so she wouldn't forget it. "1989. I'm good with dates, sir." Everyone's attention snapped to the Salvatore, grins appearing on half the class as someone finally challenged their bigoted teacher.
"Are you? How good?" A sly grin crept onto Tanner's face, always ready to embarrass one of his students "Keep it to the year. Civil Rights Act."
"1964."
"John F. Kennedy assassination."
"1963."
"Martin Luther King."
"'68."
"Lincoln."
"1865."
"Roe vs. Wade."
"1973."
"Brown vs. Board."
"1954."
"The Battle of Gettysburg."
"1863."
"Korean war."
"1950 to 1953."
"Ha!" Tanner's eyes lit up as he finally saw a 'flaw' in Stefan's answer "It ended in '52!"
He let out a low chuckle similar that to a child as Stefan tilted his head in confusion.
"Uh, actually, sir. It was '53."
