Her soul was too deep to explore by those who always swam in the shallow end

Since the night that Emily destroyed the necklace, Bonnie and Elena had been treating Cassiopeia weirdly. There wasn't any ill intent, which was the part that confused Cassy. It was awkward smiles and timid waves thrown in her direction. At one point, Elena looked ready to approach her to have a conversation, but was interrupted by the bell.

Cassy thought that since the Salvatore brothers were leaving, her and the two girls would part ways since there was no need for them to talk. It wasn't like Cassy was an approachable person. She always seemed to have a glare resting on her face, even when she was trying to smile. There was always a coldness in her eyes that filled others with unease.

Yet here they were, with Bonnie and Elena smiling at her in passing, as if they were friends. As if what had happened the night before joined them in something unspeakable. Since they were just introduced to the supernatural world, it was considered a bonding experience to them. Cassy, on the other hand, had known about other creatures - monsters, her parents would say - her whole life.

Cassy bit her lip as she exited the school building, half of her brain still focussed on the school work and the other thinking of new potion ideas. She was barely paying attention to her surroundings when something caught her eye. A person, someone she knew quite well. Someone she thought had left.

"You have got to be kidding me," She mumbled. Stefan twitched his mouth into a smile, hearing what she said.

The witch took in a deep breath, before making her way towards the vampire. She maintained a glare on her face and she crossed her arms.

"Unless this is some sort of hallucination, you are still here: in Mystic Falls," Cassy pointed out, raising an eyebrow at Stefan. He let out an awkward chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck.

"There's a problem."

"There is always a problem. Why are you not far away from here?" She questioned, not loosing the rigidness of her stature.

"There's a vampire problem," At this point, Cassy was considering going far away from Mystic Falls herself. This town was cursed or something.

"Damon?" She took a guess.

"No, some other vampire that we don't know about," As Stefan spoke, his eyes were searching the school. If Cassy had to guess, he was looking for Elena.

"So, you are staying," She said slowly, trying not to show any kind of emotion in her voice.

"No."

"No?" Her eyebrow raised once more.

"I'm just going to deal with this, and then leave."

"Ok," Cassy said, nodding whilst also silently joining Stefan in his search for the doppleganger. She didn't completely believe him, with the amount of times he told her she was never going to see him again, only to pop up a few moments later.
