You are so brave and quiet I forget you are suffering

- Ernest Hemingway

----------

Cassiopeia watched on in mild disgust at Damon dancing with five girls, taking turns in feeding off of them. The shirt he was wearing was unbuttoned, revealing his sweaty torso and all the girls had bite marks trailing up their bodies. All she wanted was a glass of water, but when she came downstairs, she was met with this sight.

Since Damon couldn't find his 'lost love', he's been slightly off the rails. His coping mechanisms equalled sex, alcohol and blood.

Her nose wrinkled when he came up for air after feeding off of one of the girls and she gasped, before whispering.

"How do I taste?"

The vampire swayed drunkingly and grinned into her neck.

"Oh, so much better than your friends. But shhh, don't tell them, they might get jealous."

Cassy was extremely thankful when the lights came on and Stefan appeared beside her. They shared a look of disgust and Cassy took this as her cue to leave and get that glass of water, though she kind of wanted to throw up at that moment.

She sat down at the island, a glass in hand, and took in the quiet. The past few weeks it had been non-stop loud music. Art was subjective, but Cassy seriously questioned Damon's music taste. Christmas up to New Year's had been the worst. Cassy's room was rather close to Damon's so she could hear quite a lot that happened in his bedroom that made her want to tear her ears out.

When the music started up again, she groaned and placed her head on the table. She heard a chuckle from the doorway and turned her face towards the culprit: Stefan.

She sent a glare his way as he spent most of his days away from the Salvatore Boarding house and at Elena's to get away from his brother's big personality. Meaning: him leaving Cassy alone to fend Damon off.

"Hello Cass," He said and sat down in the seat next to her. In turn, Cassy narrowed her eyes at him, spotting his tense shoulders and slightly clenched jaw. She sat up straight and tilted her head.

"You look serious," She pointed out "Is there another vampire problem?"

Stefan quietly snorted at her exasperated tone and shook his head.

"No vampire problem, unless you count Damon," Cassy nodded at him to continue "It's Elena, since she's adopted, we-"

"Elena is adopted?" The witch interrupted him, this being new information to her. Stefan let her have a minute to absorb. "Huh."

"Well, we are trying to find her biological parents and there might be a correlation between her mother and Alaric's husband."

"The one Damon killed?" Allegedly.
