Cassiopeia absentmindedly fiddled with her rings as she waited for the water to boil. Zach had seated himself at the island, a newspaper in one hand with a cup of coffee (made by Cassy herself) sat in front of him. They remained in a comfortable silence, enjoying the few minutes of peace.
"Cas," Zach's voice broke through the silence "look at this."
The younger girl leant over his shoulder and read where he pointed.
'Deadly beast captured. All's well in Mystic Falls'
"They always stage it as animal attacks," she commented thoughtfully. "If I were a vampire, I would stage it as a murder."
Zach turned in his seat, raising his eyebrows at her claim.
"Human sacrifices!" Cassy snapped her fingers as if she had just come up with the greatest idea of all existence. "It would make my time more interesting and at least that would explain the blood loss."
"And when the police question who did these 'human sacrifices'?" Zach leant back and took another sip of his coffee.
"Compulsion."
"So if I ever hear about Human Sacrifices in the area..." He trailed off, his hand gesturing towards her.
"Innocent until proven guilty," The witch hummed. She moved from Zach and began grabbing a cup and a tea bag.
"And," Cassy continued whilst pouring the water into her cup "I would never leave proof."
"This conversation is proof enough."
Cassy let out a dramatic sigh, leaning against the counter so she could gaze up at Zach. A mocking melancholic expression was plastered onto her face.
"Then I guess I will have to wipe your memory." She swished her finger to prove a point.
Zach let out a long sigh, finishing his coffee with one large gulp and folding up the newspaper.
"Can you do it after I go to work? I think I'm going to get a promotion today."
"Do you really need it?" she questioned as she poured the now boiled water into her mug, lifting one hand to gesture to the rest of the large house.
"Don't cause any trouble while I'm gone," Zach said, ignoring her comment with a sarcastic smile. He moved to exit the room before pausing, turning to make eye contact with the younger girl. He raised a pointed finger.
