Costume

After running with Robin, I took a shower and went back to bed. I woke up a few hours later and realized that I hadn't had any breakfast yet. I got out of bed and changed into my black shirt, jeans, converse, and jacket. I loved how I had the freedom of choosing my own clothes, since freedom was sort of a new sensation for me. My Father decided everything for me back home, and it was nice to do my own thing for once. I walked out of my room and started heading to the kitchen. Immediately I started to smell cookies. When I entered the kitchen, I saw M'gann pulling cookies out of the oven, telepathically. I wasn't trying to be quiet, so when I walked in she turned around to see who it was. When she saw it was me, her eyes widened.

"This was supposed to be a surprise!" she said, gesturing to the cookies.

"You made those for me?" I asked, once again shocked by the kindness and generosity of others. M'gann nodded, and suddenly something whizzed past us. It stopped right next to the cookies, so I could then see that 'it' was actually Kidflash. He wasn't in his superhero suit. If I passed him on the street, I would have never guessed he was a hero. With his goofy grin, he just didn't look like hero material. But of course, he was hero material. Anyone willing to risk their lives for the safety of others is hero material. Anyway, Kidflash reached out and grabbed a hand full of cookies. He stuffed an impossible amount into his mouth. Now he looked more like a chipmunk than anything else. M'gann sighed, and I looked at the red head with raised eyebrows.

"I have a fast metabolism," he somehow said with his full mouth. From the expression on his face and the silence in the room, I just couldn't help myself. I started laughing. Kidflash quickly swallowed the cookies and grinned at me. "Has anyone ever told you that your laugh sounds like an angel's?" he asked. I recovered myself and stopped laughing. Though I was still grinning.

"Has anyone ever told you that you would make an excellent chipmunk?" I asked, pointing to he cookie-filled cheeks.

"Being a chipmunk is just one of my many talents," Kidflash said in a mock arrogant voice.

"Very impressive," I said sarcastically.

"Oh, I know."

"But I don't think you've managed to impress M'gann," I said, noting M'gann's silence on the matter.

"So we're spilling secret ID's?" Kidflash asked, now totally off topic. "Good. I have the best name ever."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Wally," he said, trying to make it sound like he did have the best name. I laughed since Wally didn't even make the list of the top one-hundred names. While we were talking, I guess we didn't realize the computer announce Artemis and Zatanna coming. So I was surprised when I heard Artemis' voice behind me.

"Hey guys," she said, picking up a cookie and taking a big bite. Zatanna followed suit.

Everyone chorused their hello's and I finally grabbed one of M'gann's cookies.

"These are good," I said after took a small bite.

"Thanks," M'gann said and smiled. Suddenly, she face palmed. "Hello, Megan! If you're going to be a superhero you need a costume!"

"A costume?" I asked, not really wanting to go through the trouble of designing and wearing one. I mean, what villain is going to notice if I wear sparkly blue shoes. They also won't care. I mean, I get the whole mask thing, but some hero's costumes are too extravagant.

"Yeah," M'gann nodded excitably.

"I don't really want-" I started.

"Come on! It'll be fun!" M'gann said.

"I just want it to be simple, ok?" I said.

"Sure," M'gann said, then lead me out into the main room of Mount Justice with the other girls in tow. I guess Wally had something better to do than play dress-up.

"Take your jacket off," Artemis said. I did as she said, and M'gann took it out of my hands politely. Artemis then typed some things in, and then the computer began to scan me. A holographic image of me appeared. It was a little smaller than me, but it still had my dark, curly hair and my sea-green eyes.

"What colors do you want?" Zatanna asked.

"Um," I thought about it, then looked over to my black and white jacket, "Black and white?"

"That could be cool," Artemis said and nodded. I thought about costume ideas. I needed something to keep me hidden.

"A black cloak. With a hood," I said, and Artemis typed a few more things in. A cloak appeared on my holographic self. "Black leggings." The jeans were replaced with leggings.

"What else?" Zatanna asked.

"A white, knee-length, flowy dress. With one strap over the right shoulder. It's sort of like the stuff they wear in ancient Greece," I said, remembering how Mom used to read me Greek myths when I was younger.

"Is this it?" Artemis asked, pointing to the hologram.

"Perfect," I said, "Add a black leather belt. And black combat boots."

"Are you going to have a mask?" Zatanna asked. I nodded. What kind of mask should I have? Robin's was cool, but showed most of his face. However Artemis'...

"Your mask type," I said to Artemis, "Half of it black and the other half white."

"Cool," Artemis said, looking at the finished product.

"It looks great!" M'gann said.

  "Nice," Zatanna commented.

"Thanks," I said, smiling at my suit.
