My eyes snapped open, and I was surprised to see where I was. Back in my hammock.
"What the-" I muttered, sitting up in my hammock. How did I get here? I immediately noticed an envelope lying on the ground next to me. I reached down and swooped it up. I read who it was addressed to in shock.
It was for me. Well, it was for Alex Matthews.
I ripped open the envelope, reading the letter as fast as I could.
"Dear Alex Matthews," I whispered to myself out loud, "You've been invited to Gotham Academy on a Wayne Foundation Scholarship."
What the heck.
Wayne? As in Bruce Wayne? How does he even know I exist? There's literally no files on me, minus the ones I made to convince the team of my identity. Why and how would a billionaire playboy have any information on my fake name, and where I live? The government doesn't even know I exist.
"How strange," I muttered. I looked at the envelope thoughtfully. No, I told myself, I can't go to school.
But, I reasoned, shouldn't I investigate this Wayne guy? He seems pretty shady to me.
And I'm kinda bored. It's not like I can really go back to Mount J.
"So it's settled," I whispered with a slight smile, "I'm going to Gotham Academy."

I spent the rest of the day roaming the streets of Gotham, along with getting my school uniform. The otherwise expensive clothes cost me nothing. Courtesy of Bruce Wayne. It was strange, seeing that he even knew what sizes I wear. Also, all the school forms were apparently filled out, which is even more suspicious. And creepy.
Nonetheless, I was anxious for that day to be over. Because according to the letter, I could start school tomorrow. So I wandered around Gotham aimlessly, waiting for the sun to set. When it finally did, I rushed back to my hammock and got in, shutting my eyes.
Ready for Gotham Academy.
Okay so wow. This chapter did not end up like I wanted it to. Like, I actually already had it typed out a few weeks ago but I basically had to change everything. And this is super short, and I haven't updated in two weeks. Sorry. But the next chap is gonna come out in like, two days or something.
