"What happened?" Batman hissed.
"I got shot," Robin mumbled, staring intently at his hands.
"I can see that," Batman said angrily. "But how?"
"The mugger fired his gun," Robin explained with a sigh, "I pushed the victim out of the way, but I myself got shot in the process."
Batman took a deep breath, seemingly contemplating what he should say next.
"Next time," Batman said slowly, "Move faster. With your gymnastic ability, there are an infinite amount of ways that could've and should've gone."
Robin bit his bottom lip. That wasn't what he was expecting Bats to say.
"Okay," the Boy Wonder grumbled.
"Despite your mistakes," Batman paused, "You did good tonight."
This seemed to surprise Robin even more than Batman's previous statement.
"You also did well," Batman said to me. My throat immediately clogged up. I simply nodded. "However," he continued, "You lack self-discipline. To the point where you're...brutal."
I nodded again, but this time a small fire lit in the back of the throat. He wants to talk about being brutal? His son just got shot, and he told him to dodge the bullet next time. Robin's very skilled. He's a lot of things. But he's not Kidflash. It's amazing that he even saved the victim.
The rest of the car ride was heavy with silence. Alfred was ready with a medical kit when we arrived back at the Cave. The Butler and I helped Robin to an operating table. I blushed as Alfred took the Boy Wonder's shirt off so he could operate on his bullet wound.
"I-um...I'm gonna go now," I stuttered awkwardly. Dick sent me a small grin, and I sped-walked to my room.
After taking a long shower, I got on my borrowed laptop and started watching YouTube. I'd always known of YouTube, but it used to just be a place where I watched news clips and videos of my Father causing chaos. Now, thanks to Dick, it's a whole different experience.
I checked the time and was surprised to see that I had been watching YouTube for almost two hours. How did I get so caught up in such a trivial thing? Anyway, I decided to check up on Dick. He was probably sleeping, but I just wanted to see him. Shutting down the laptop, I crept towards Dick's room, which wasn't too far from mine. His door was half-closed, and as I was about to push it open, I heard a voice.
"I'm sorry," Bruce's voice said, muffled through the door. My interest peaked, I decided to eavesdrop.
"You'll have to be a bit more specific than that," the joking voice of Dick said. Bruce sighed.
"I'm sorry for being so hard on you. Especially in front of your friend," Bruce said, "In all honesty, you did exactly what I would've done."
"Well that's no comfort," Dick said, no doubt with a smirk, "You make disastrous decisions."
"Hey," Bruce said, feigning hurt.
"Kidding," Dick laughed, "But thanks."
They were quiet for a second, except for the sound of metal clanking together. I finally looked inside, to see father and son sitting together, enjoying two bowls of ice cream.
Well, would you look at that. I smiled to myself, and head back to my room. I guess everyone has their moments.
