"Hey!" The woman on the screen said in a sickly sweet voice.
"Harley Quinn," Batman growled, "What do you want?"
"Me? Oh, I don't want a thing," Mom flashed a smile, "It's what my puddin' wants."
"Stop with your games!" Robin shouted.
"Well you're no fun," Harley pouted, "Mr. J is upset he wasn't invited to your little party. For each guest you did invite, Sweets is gonna kill a trick or treater."
"You won't get away with this!" Superman shouted out above everyone else, who had erupted into furious murmurs.
"Oh, we will," Mom giggled, "In fact, we're so confident, we're gonna tell you where the hostages are! They're on top of the Wayne Enterprises Tower."
"Impossible," I heard Robin mutter from behind me. Why would that be impossible?
"Ta-ta for now!" Mom waved cheerfully, then the screen shut down. There was a moment of silence, then everyone looked at Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
"There are twelve League members here, and nine Team members," Batman started.
"And we invited Red Arrow," Wally added.
"Let's assume for now that Red is being counted," Robin thought out loud.
"So that's twenty-two kids," Flash summed up.
"Right," Batman thought about the situation at hand, "Flash, Kidflash, Alex, Captain Marvel, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Miss Martian and Red Tornado, you're on hostage duty."
Hostage duty? I thought to myself, incredibly easy with super speed.
"Batman, Robin, Aquaman, Aqualad, Doctor Fate, Zatanna, Icon, Rocket, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Artemis, and Superboy will take on Joker and Harley Quinn. While aiding the hostages, of course," Superman instructed.
This isn't right, I thought to myself. I sprinted over to Batman, careful to not bump into any of the guests.
"Batman," I whispered. The Dark Knight spared me a glance out of the corner of his eyes.
"Yes?" There was a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"You're a detective. You must have realized, this doesn't quite add up. Taking on twelve league members and nine heroes in training? That's crazy, insane, and stupid. Even for the Joker," I told Batman in a rush.
"You're right," Batman told me, "There's something else, something bigger. I just don't know what it is yet."
This is a trap, I thought, and I'm helping them get out of it?
I nodded in agreement to Batman, then went off with the rest of hostage-rescue squad.
"Hey Wally," I said to the speedster as I neared him, "Can I-"
"Mimic Flash's powers," the redhead told me, "He's faster than me."
"Oh, thanks," I said, wondering how he could guess what I wanted so quickly.
I made my way to Flash, about to ask for his powers. But instead decided on purposely jostling into the scarlet speedster to gain his powers. I first used the super speed to run to my room and change into my superhero suit, then came back to my group.
Then we were off. As expected, those who were running or flying got there first. I saw the other group of League and Team members addressing the situation.
We stood on the sidewalk right in front of Wayne Enterprises. Superman and Captain Marvel were already clearing away nosy pedestrians as quickly as possible. On the top of the Wayne Tower, I could make out the Joker and Harley Quinn.
