Meeting
Alpha Octavius
His head and his fellow attacker's heads roll off the raised platform and onto the ground. Staining the platform and the snow. They all stood and watched in fear, looking upon the lifeless eyes in the snow. Their body's fell limp on the wood and the blood streaming out of them, staining and dripping through the wood boards.
Adrianna, I could tell was zoning out. Her face was facing the way of the execution but her eyes told me she was somewhere else. I could care less, as long as it looked like she was watching. In which it did.
After cleaning myself up I went and retrieved Adrianna, taking her out of her trance. She jumped a little when I shook her out of her trance.
"We have a meeting," I tell her softly.
She nods, not saying a word and wraps her arm around mine.
"You did wonderful, Princess."
She just nods again.
"What is wrong?"
"I think you have traumatized me," she tells, her voice barely above a whisper. Trying to laugh it off.
"I am sorry. I understand, but sadly that doesn't cut it. I was the same after my first execution too. You will get use to it. You want the respect of the pack as the soon to be Luna, you need to show that you are able to take on the responsibilities to be it. As time goes on maybe you'll find that you are desensitized to it. Yet, you won't always have to attend these since you'll be Luna and you'll be expected to see to other duties."
"So I won't always have to go?"
I shake my head. "No, but until you are crowned Luna, you will. It shows you can handle such formalities. Once you are Luna, you'll have other duties to see to and other places you are expected to be. So, no you won't be expected at all executions."
"I'll have to attend some though?"
I nod. "Yes, only for those who have committed high crimes against the realm or the pack. Those ones you'll be expected at. The big and important executions."
"Okay," she breathes.
She went silent, hence ending the conversation. Naturally, I left her alone to be in her thoughts for the rest of the walk to where the meeting will be held. I felt her grip on me tighten once we stood at the foot of the hotel.
"Oh, Alpha," the receptionist at the desk exclaims once we enter. "I didn't expect you to arrive so early! They are already waiting for you upstairs."
"Wonderful, we'll be heading up," I tell.
The council already sat waiting around the table once we arrived in the meeting room. I help Adrianna out of her cloak before taking my seat at the front of the table. Adrianna takes her seat to my right. I could tell she was nervous as she was playing and twisting her gloves in her lap.
I place my hand on hers to try and soothe her anxiety.
"Shall we begin," I ask.
There is a collective 'yes' and I nod.
Before me sat six werewolf council members. Well, seven if you include Adrianna. All with a different skill set and importance to me.
"As you know the recent events that have taken place. We are having a rise in domestic threats. It seems they are targeting the Princess, but it is too early to say why. I don't want to assume but after looking into the history of the pack it is clear why. They feel threatened by the Princess as they believe she can and will disrupt the flow of the pack," I state.
"So what are we going to do about them? We can't keep executing them," my general tells.
I nod. "Yes, this is just the first step. I believe we should move in stages. The first being public executions. I don't know what the next stages are, but we will know what to do when the time arrives."
"So what are we going to do about the Princess? You know for protection wise and her safety of course. We can't have a ton of guards with her twenty four seven," the priestess chimes in.
"Yes, I agree. Until it is safe she won't be allowed to leave unless I am with her. She can't be trusted with her own guard, what does that say? So unless I am available she won't be allowed to leave. Therefore her project on fixing the Moon Goddess temple will be put on the back burner until I can guarantee her safety."
Adrianna nods with a frown.
"I'm sorry, but it is for your own safety. You are to be the Luna and these threats will be taken seriously."
"I know," she says softly. "It just sucks I'm going to be stuck inside."
"You won't be to stuck inside all the time."
She gives me a pointed look.
The priestess laughs. "She does have a point. You are very busy and barely have any free time on your schedule."
I just huff seeing her point. "Okay, back to the traitors," I advise. "We don't know who they are or who their leader is."
"Obviously we won't figure out who they are if you keep executing them," an advisor barks.
"It was just those five to make a point and scare them back into line so they could see what would happen to them if they did the same."
"Yeah, I'll work for a few weeks, but then they'll be back at it seeing the pack has calmed and forgot about it."
I shake my head. "The thing is, I won't be forgetting about it. I am going to be on high alert all day long. Maybe I'll start bringing Adrianna to meetings with me. As the workers in my mansion may try to hurt her as well."
She sighs. "Lucky me."
I smirk. "Indeed, lucky you. You'll get to see your man at work."
I know she was trying to make light of this situation with being sarcastic and making jokes. It's how she calms herself down in these situations. Diverting the tension into something more light hearted.
The next few hours we sat and strategized for what our next steps will be, since I am no longer allowed to kill them. So, we had to think of other ways to approach this situation. If we approached it wrong it could only anger them more, which we don't want. In which I found it harder to come up with different types of punishments, rather than murder. Personally, I think punishing them in front of the pack is the best tactic into scaring the pack and putting them back into their place. They need to know their place. Yet, they didn't see that as the best approach.
So we came up with punishments, public or not, and interrogation methods. Once we find their leader, then I can kill them. I want to be the one to execute their leader.
But I hired this council for a reason and that is to advise me into the right direction and murder isn't the right direction. They aren't as merciless as me, but they aren't the ones in charge. I do what I believe is the best approach to the situation and some times that is execution. This is the Death Pack we are talking about and I am the Alpha. It is in my veins to seek vengeance.
