The God of the Dead

Alpha Octavius

The God of the Dead stands before me, a smirk on his face as he looks upon me.

"So, you have finally came to me for help," King Damon chuckles.

The God steps down, his red eyes and dark hair literally matched the color pallet of the temple that surrounded us. He has high sharp cheek bones, hallow cheeks, and a sharp angles face. Pale was an understatement of his skin tone. He was tall and well built, I mean of course he was. He was once in my position, he was once the Death Alpha. His fingers where black and rose up to his knuckles looking like as if they were flames.

"What have you done to my daughter," he asks harshly making me flinch a little.

"I haven't done anything, your Majesty. She believes there was a mistake made when we were paired," I tell, honestly.

He looks at me, his smile turning into a thin line. "Because there was."

"What do you mean?"

"Sit, I will show you what I mean."

He touches my forehead and I am suddenly transported to an unknown location, my body see through. I'm like a ghost.

The sounds of babies crying echo throughout the room. In the hospital bed sits the Moon Goddess and beside her King Damon. The God of the Dead soothingly brushing back his wife's hair as the nurses clean up the babies. The six nurses in the room stand around the bed and two smile handing the pups to the happy new parents.

Two beautiful baby girls bundled up in swaddles look up at their parents. One swaddled in black and red and the other in white and gold. The swaddles indicated who would go where. The first born Princess Melody in the gold, and the second born Princess Adrianna in the black.

Princess Melody would go on to train under her mother to become the next Moon Goddess and Princess Adrianna would become a guardian of the underworld and assist her father.

Yet it seemed like even their destiny's was out of their mother's control since each princess represented their opposite realm. Adrianna looked just like her mother, big blue kind eyes that held hope and wonder. Her older sister had dark hair the color of night and the red eyes of her father who craved suffering and revenge.

As the twins grew you could see how different they were and how they only grew closer to their opposite destiny. Each one being pulled to the other side, being called by it. They grew up like that and eventually everything came tumbling down.

Adrianna met her mate young, a handsome palace guard who was in the process of becoming the Head of the Royal Guard. He'd eventually go on to become the General of the army of warriors in the Goddess's realm. Melody and Adrianna grew and matured and were the perfect representation of their opposite realm. This is when the Moon Goddess realized she raised them wrong and let her intuition get the best of her.

There has never been twins born to the Moon Goddess before, so she just assumed the first born would be the next Goddess. Boy, was she wrong. Melody lashed out and showed who she truly was and where she truly belonged.

The Goddess quickly tried to fix the damage she had done, but it was too late. Each one had already completed their studies for their respected realms. Swiftly she took Adrianna under her wing and once again began to train her, but as her successor. She sent Melody to the afterlife to train under her father.

"No," Melody spat. "I will be the next Moon Goddess! It is my destiny! I am the first born, therefore I am the rightful heiress!"

The Moon Goddess shook her head, rejecting her daughters claim. "No, you are the spitting image of your father and you have the same interests as him. The Realm of the Afterlife calls upon you. You are the product of the Afterlife and therefore you will become a guardian of it. You aren't fit to be the Moon Goddess with these intentions you have been showing interest in. You are revenge driven. You anger easy and envious of those around you. It is too dangerous for you to be Moon Goddess."

"And what about Adrianna? We both know she isn't capable of this lifestyle. She gets overwhelmed easily with the littlest bit of work let alone caring for a whole race."

The Goddess looks at her eldest daughter in disapproval. "Now, that isn't very nice. Your sister has come a long way since you two last crossed paths. She has over come that and is as sharp as a nail. She'll be the next Goddess wether you like it or not. This display you are putting on for me continues to prove you aren't worthy of this position. You aren't mature and you just crave bringing others down and watching them suffer. That isn't what the Moon Goddess stands for."

She growls at her mother and dramatically leaves the grand hall and bumps into Adrianna's mate, Gabriel.

What I saw next was nothing short of heartbreaking. Her mate lying to her and then going behind her back to cheat and be with her sister. Having sex behind her back and lying about where he's been. The following scene that unfolded was her catching them in the middle of having sex. Her mark burning in pain and making the young Adrianna dropping to the floor screaming out in pain. Her parents rushing to her side trying to soothe the pain and calm her. Her mark was burning her so bad that it was throbbing and bleeding.

The vision fast forwarded to eight months later. Adriana was excited, all the work she has done has paid off and she was becoming the Crowned Princess. Her mother's heiress.

"Stop the coronation," Melody barks out the order.

Adrianna's eyes widen and she steps down, her gorgeous gown flowing behind her. "Melody," she snarls. "Can't you let me be happy for once? You already took my mate away, I won't let you take this!"

I wake up from the vision with a splitting headache. I rub my temples and watch the God. He sits on the offering table with a smirk on his face. I struggle to maintain my weight on my arms. My elbows giving out as I try to sit up.

"Oh Goddess," I breath.

"Now you know. Do what you will with this information," he remarks.

What have I done? I made her feel like how her ex made her feel. Her sister, her own fucking sister took her mate away.

"What happened after that?"

"Adrianna went to Serenity, the Moon Goddess, and had the mating bond removed. Over a series of mental therapy sessions it was completely severed and given to Melody. Serenity paired you two thinking Melody would be the next Goddess, but she was in fact wrong. You see, Melody was your original mate, but you didn't feel the bond yet since you two didn't meet. That made it easier to sever your bond from Melody and connect it to Adrianna."

I could feel the color drain from my face. "Did it hurt?"

"Like a bitch. She passed out the first few times from the unbelievable pain. Sick as a dog in between the sessions and sometimes wouldn't leave her room. Yet she didn't let that bother her and kept pushing through it."

"And she's willing to go through that again if I decide to be with Racheal."

"I am afraid so. This is why my Wife decided to change who the Goddess is and follow what the universe intended. Instead of unintentionally going against it. She doesn't care about the pain she will have to go through, just as long as you are happy."

"But I want her. I want her so bad," I breath. "But she doesn't want to listen."

"Then make her understand, give her the time and space she has requested and when she returns in two days tell her that."

Finally being able to get up without my legs giving out on me, I take my time returning to the mansion. This newfound information still swirling in my head and a burning migraine. I will just have to wait and allow her to make advances on her own terms. I don't want to fuck this up. I don't want to be like her ex.
