Death Knocking On Your Door

Alpha Octavius

Everybody has those days when they do not want to get out of bed and work, I was having that kind of day. For the most part my day consists of checking in on the scouts and if they have made progress and calming down the pack. They did not like the idea of the Moon Princess as much as I.

I was hoping to keep the word of the scouts going out in search for her a secret, but the word got out and only caused more panic. Yet, if you think about it I can't go over to the light side of the realm to take over a pack as it is illegal. I think the same rules should apply here, right? I mean think about it, it is the same concept just a different type of energy and motive. She is a light energy with the motive to save the population and end my terror. While I am a dark energy feeding my power and grow my packs strength. We are the Death Pack after all so we should be powerful and feared. See, same concept just different points of view. Double standard if you ask me, she can do it for good while I can't.

You know I really should bring this up to Serenity, the Moon Goddess. To point out she is breaking her own laws and just interpreting them to fit her agenda, exhibit A: this situation. Maybe it'll do something, maybe it won't, but just putting the word out into the werewolf community will be enough. It is all about acknowledgment and being held accountable.

When a knock on the door alerts me, I respond with a groan and cover my head with a pillow.

"Alpha," someone now yells from the hallway.

"Enter," I boom, annoyed.

I sense the presence of Levi and now he has captured my attention.

"This better be good, Levi," I threaten. "You have woken me up before my alarm clock, so it better be worth waking me up early."

Too early to deal with dumb pack affairs.

"Oh, it is, sir," I could tell he was excited.

"Well then get on with it, I am tired."

"You won't be tired after this. The scouts have an updated. The Princess has been found, she is at the North eastern boarder on the light side of the barrier."

"Interesting."

"It was not easy. They said that a scout was running since he caught a scent of a female werewolf. Running through the woods he bounced off of a force field. At first they thought it was the one between the two realms, but they were already on the light side. He was burnt badly but has since recovered."

"So it sounds like she used a disguising illusion to mask the cabin so it couldn't be found?"

"It seems so."

Smart.

"Get a mage, we leave in an hour. We will take down the illusion and attack."

"Can't we just have you do it?"

I shake my head. "That is too much energy for me to use and you know what happens when I use too much magic. Although I have the same magic as the divines, I can not simply use it. Since I have a darker energy, using such light energy gifts poisons my blood stream."

I am immortal so I do not die, but it is draining and the only way to regain my lost energy is the kill or have another divine heal me. As you can see I do not have access to another divine so I have to resort to murdering. Don't worry though, I do not kill packs for this, I simply go to the cells and kill a criminal from there. It is a win win situation, I regain my energy and a criminal is killed and can no longer be a threat. In my opinion the longer they are alive the longer they are a threat.

I sigh and pull myself up out of bed. I don't bother to change as we'll be shifting and heading to the alleged location of the Princess.

"I'll meet you, four others, and the mage at the boarder in a hour. I expect you to pick the best warriors. It's gonna be quite the fight. So be prepared and tell them to be prepared."

And so within an hour they were at the boarder and ready to fight. The scout who located her lead the way to the boarder of the two halves of the realm. She was on the light side.

'Where is she,' I ask through the link.

There was no cabin here like I was told.

'The cabin is masked to look like the woods surrounding it. This is an illusion spell so she couldn't be found,' the scout explains.

Although it was masked perfectly, once you get close you can see the flaw. Up close the illusion kind of vibrated making the trees look inconsistent. Yet, you could smell a female hiding behind the illusion that was protecting her.

'Bring it down,' I order the mage through the mind link.

'Yes, Alpha,' she responds and starts to bring it down.

The cabin was cute and cozy. Obviously she is here and won't be able to escape from us now.

'Everyone cover an exit. We are going to smoke her out,' I tell.

The mage looks at me, 'we are going to burn it down?"

'It is the only way to get her out.'

'What about dragging her out?'

I shake my head. 'That won't do, this is how we will do it. If we go in she'll know we are there and try to escape through a window or something. Burning down the cabin will also make the building cease to exist. This is better.'

The mage sighs loudly. 'Well, for your sake let's hope this works and doesn't start a forest fire because then we'll be spotted. This is illegal, not only have we crossed the boarder without permission we are burning down a building on their side.'

'Then make it a controlled burn and make it quick.'

I was getting impatient with this mage, questioning my orders.
