Reunion
Alpha Octavius
I head towards the hospital, the fresh snow crunching under my boots. Beside me Levi followed with a change of clothes for both Adrianna and my mother. He insisted he carried them, personally I just wanted to smell my mate. The comfort it would bring my wolf would be enough to calm him until we made it to the hospital.
The hospital doors slide open and the nurses bow and quickly direct me to my family. A quick elevator ride and I'm taken into a separate and protected wing where they were located. I was informed by a doctor Adrianna refused care as she had no aliments and wanted to stay by my mother. A deep part of me that should be dark and cold, warmed at that.
When I opened the door to my mother's room she was asleep and Adrianna shot up out of her chair. Her arms quickly wrap around me and I respond by pulling her closer and tighter to me. My nose nuzzling the crown of her head and kissing it.
"You scared me," I admit.
She laughs awkwardly.
"Please stop putting yourself in danger. It is stressing and you are going to make me age quicker."
"I can't make any promises, Octavius," she responds teasingly.
"You are literally making me go gray and killing me."
"I think you'd look hot with grays."
She rests her chin in the middle of my chest and flashes me an innocent but not so innocent smile. I only shake my head and quickly claim her lips. My hands tighten around her hips and pull her to me. Hers roam up my chest and secure around the back of my neck.
I kiss her softly and passionately. She responds with the same manner of emotions. She was practically melting into me.
I hear a cheer in the background which makes me quickly stop and pull her into my chest in a protective manor. Completely startled by the noise. I look back to see my mother. Adrianna on the other hand kept her face hidden from view, yet I knew her face was red because I could feel the heat of it.
"Oh, sorry. Sorry. I can go back to sleep if I was interrupting," mom quickly offers.
I rub my temple and wrap my hand around Adrianna's and head to mom's bed side. Levi now entered and handed Adrianna her clean clothes in which she excuses herself to shower and dress. I take a seat on the edge of the hospital bed and hold my mom's hand.
"How are you feeling," I ask.
"I am doing fine. I am happy your mate found me. She is a very sweet young lady," Mom confesses.
I smile a nod. "I am, too."
"Truly you deserve it. You deserve a nice young lady and to be happy."
"I am sorry this happened, Mom. I tried to protect those I love and failed terribly."
Mom shakes her head, disagreeing. "You did not fail me. No, don't say that. I wasn't expecting that to happen either. She captured my mind and your fathers. It was unexpected and shocking. That's what they do, the strike when we put our guard down. Your mate is very smart."
"But I did. I feel like I failed. I couldn't keep you, dad, and my mate safe."
She shakes her head again. "Adrianna put herself in harms way for her plan. She knew what she was doing and was willing to accept the consequences. She saved me because of that. So don't regret or feel bad. You are doing wonderful as Alpha."
"How long do you think you will be here?"
"Well, until I get my body temperature back up and I am rehydrated, so maybe a few days at least."
I feel so stupid. I should've listened to Adrianna when she felt uncomfortable with the poser. I should've looked deeper and saw the signs that it wasn't my mother. She had no mark and no scent. I could've found my mother sooner and avoided Adrianna ending up down there too. I could've nipped this in the bud, but I was blind. So blind and seeking closure from her.
Adrianna peeks her head out of the bathroom and smiles softly.
"Are you done having your heart to heart," she asks.
"We are just talking," I defend.
Adrianna giggles before coming out. "I didn't want to disturb you."
I couldn't help roll my eyes at her which earned a grin from both Adrianna and mom.
"Why don't you guys head home. I'll be okay. I have the best doctors looking after me. You should go home and relax. You had a long day," mom tells.
"Mom, don't be unreasonable. I want to stay here," I respond.
"I insist. I am safe now and recovering. Please."
I can't help but sigh and take Adrianna by the hand. "I guess if you believe that you are okay without me being here. Then I'll leave, but I'll be back first thing tomorrow."
"I don't doubt it. It was nice to meet you Adrianna and thank you again for rescuing me. Good night guys."
I give her a flat smile, a little defeated and kiss her forehead before leaving. Outside of the hospital there is a swarm of reporters, photographers, and pack members watching. Thankfully Levi thought ahead and had a car waiting out front for us. As we drive out of the hospital there are tons of questions yelled as we pass them. They were holding us up and creating issues. Not only holding us up but creating an obstruction for others on the main road.
"This is insane," Adrianna mumbles clearly over the attention.
"Is there anyway you can get them cleared," Levi asks.
"I mean I can call on some pack warriors to make them move. I don't know how that will go over though," I advise.
"I mean you can send maybe two or three. Not a whole unit. We need to get home. These people in the traffic have somewhere to be. It's creating hysteria," Adrianna states.
Within a few minutes the road is somewhat clear and we are able to make it through. Traffic in fact only got worse since the public was being drawn to the hospital out of curiosity. They won't be able to get into the hospital unless they have an emergency so it's pointless. My mother is in a wing under high security for this exact reason.
What worries me most is this hysteria being riled up within the pack. Such hysteria can and probably most likely will get out of control. The traitorous group within the pack was probably hoping for this outcome. Most likely to show I am unfit or how the Luna is worming her way into my head in attempts to change the pack. I mean this was already somewhat corroborated by the shifter we took into custody.
We just need to get to the bottom of this and capture the ring leader of this circus.
