Studies

Princess Adrianna

The palace hasn't changed much since I left. I mean it's only been a few weeks, so why would it? The palace is just like my mother's temples but bigger as it is a palace. Decorated in whites and golds there are sky lights everywhere. The windows are floor to ceiling with sheer white and gold curtains. This hallways contains the portraits of past Goddess', the opposite hallway where my sister studies is filled with past Death Gods and guardians. Besides that there are tapestries and other art works of beautiful creatures like unicorns and Pegasus. There is a white rug with gold boarders right down the middle of the hallway and pillars on either side throughout the hallway. The pillars have gold throne vines wrapped around them and water fountains come out the walls between some.

The palace was truly something to behold and was a work of art created thousands of years ago when the first Goddess was made by the cosmos. At the time werewolves weren't around and she created the first creature of the night by observing the wolf characteristics. She grew to love these creatures and eventually combined man with the wolf. A true creature of the night and nightmares. The first ones were, we have since evolved from our original ancestors and aren't too scary. We have since shed the name of being creatures of nightmares, that is a vampire thing now. We are just simply creatures of the night, no fear attached to our kind anymore.

I heave open the library door and find my tutor with his nose in a book, now I say this because he is literally on a ladder reading this book.

"Hey," I call startling him a little.

His eyes light up and he stuffs the book back in its right spot and climbs down the ladder. "Princess," Jarrett greets happily. "I didn't know you'd be returning so soon, I would've been waiting for your arrival and not hiding in the library."

His beauty has always been unearthly. His mate is lucky. Jarrett looks to be about my age with dark skin and dark amethyst eyes. His hair looked to be unkept which I assumed was because of the hours in the library conducting whatever research he was up to this time. He is after all the God of Literature.

I wave off his apology. "There is no need to apologize, I didn't know I'd be coming home either. I knew exactly where to find you."

We take a seat in front of the fire place in the arm chairs with exaggeratedly tall backs.

"So how has it been? Where is your journal?"

"Uh- about that. The Death Alpha kind of destroyed it when he burned down my cabin I was staying in."

He smirks, mischief twinkling in his dark eyes.

"You knew," I growl out the question.

"I am surprised you didn't. We went over that chapter within the first week of your studies. I thought you were smart enough to connect the dots."

"I mean yeah, I remember that. I didn't think I'd have another chance at a mate after Gabriel."

He tuts and shakes his head. "Your mother is the Moon Goddess, no? Of course she is going to make sure her children, blood children, have happy endings. This is just tradition with you being paired with the Death Alpha, it happens every time a new heiress is born. Just this time around your mother mixed the two of you up. There has never been twins born to a reigning Goddess. It's unheard of."

"Why is that?"

"I have been talking to your mother about this topic recently. We believe it is because your father was a twin in his past life, therefore he has the twin gene even in his new life he carries it."

"I see."

"Enough about that, what can you tell me about the packs and realms? The task I sent with you to research so you had something to do on earth."

"Well, the darker side of the realm is freezing."

He chuckles. "Well, that is why it is nicknamed the first level of hell."

I roll my eyes, as it truly lives up to it's nickname. For the following hours we talk about my recent experiences in the darker side of the realm. He too seemed uncomfortable at the idea of watching an execution. He shifted in his seat at the details of the event. He jumped in his seat when I offered to show him said memory.

"That won't be necessary," he tells, playing with the collar of his shirt.

I could simply place my hand on his forehead or hold his hand and show him this memory. Also, I can call the memory into mind and transmit it to him through our mind link. It's as simple as that, but clearly he didn't want to witness it. It has traumatized me and it'd surely do the same to him. I don't blame him. I had to witness it in real life and real time.

"So, tell me, Princess what else have you learned about the realms," Jarrett asks, changing the subject.

"Well I have learned about the laws and how the dark side of the realm can't pass to the light side without going through a check point. Vise versa with the light side too," I respond.

"So, just circling back on the Death Alpha. You do realize he passed through illegally to get to you?"

I nod. "I do."

"Has it occurred to you, why?"

I shake my head.

"You do realize this male of yours has been lonely all this time, right? Now that he has found his true mate after living alone for all those years. He won't rest until you are back in his arms."

"I am aware. I wasn't planning on staying here forever."

"But the decision you have given him is basically doubting the feelings he has for you and you for him. You are hurting yourself and him. Yet you see hurting him more, declaring you are unfit for his love or even him. He feels unworthy of you as it is. Just another stab with you doing this. Doubting his heart is true."

"You do realize he was hanging all over his immortal Ex mate, right?"

He nods. "I didn't say he was perfect. None of us are. Octavius was simply seeking some kind of acceptance from his ex, maybe this was his way of moving on? I do not know. All I know is that he has feeling for you and the longer you are gone, the crazier he will become."

"Crazy?"

"Crazy." He nods clarifying and continues, "he is unaware of your whereabouts and here in this realm he can't contact you. He can't feel you or your wolf, no mind links, and no bonds. It's driving him to the brink as he can't see you, can't feel you, can't hold you. Sure he seems like a cold brutal man, but he holds strong emotions for you. This bond will surely be impossible to break if you chose to do so. It'll only cause both of you immeasurable pain or possibly death if the bond is broken."

"And what about Racheal?"

"It is his way of getting closure so he may move on in his own way."

I let out a huff knowing my teacher is correct. He seems proud of himself as he counties to drink his tea and watch the fireplace. I hate when he is right.
