Morning Tea

Princess Adrianna

Octavius gives me a shy but anxious smile as I walk into our closet. I was more nervous than he was to be having tea with his mother. She does not like me, so I can only imagine what is to come from this little tea party. It was an unexpected invite, which I bet was her angle. To throw me off so she can catch me off guard. Yet, I was ready for this.

I grab a lilac dress from the hanger that should be suitable for the greenhouse's warmth. The dress has a sweetheart neckline and off the shoulder sleeves. The entire dress had flowers embroidered on it and a thin layer of tule over the skirt. My hair is left in its state and a single dainty necklace with a diamond moon hangs around my neck. I find a platinum circlet that suits the dress with light amethyst's placed on it. At the center being a raw amethyst shaped into the crescent moon.

Octavius sits on the dark raspberry satee with his ankle crossed on his knee as he sits back.

"I'm nervous," I confess.

"As am I," he admits. "But, I will have Brooklyn stationed in the garden along with a few others to observe the tea party."

"Okay." I nod.

He rises off the seat and wraps his arms around me. His chin resting on my shoulder. "You'll be protected and safe just in case she tries to harm you. They will also keep me updated and alert me if she is to attack. I'll be close by and step in if need be. I hope this doesn't happen, but it is better to be safe than sorry."

"I understand."

"I can't lose you."

I smile and turn around in his hold and kiss him softly.

"Come, I'll escort you to the greenhouse." He gestured to his elbow already waiting for me to accept it.

As we walk out we are greeted by a lot of guards who swarm us. They circle us as we walk to the greenhouse. Brooklyn was standing at my side fully dressed in battle leather. Down a corridor at the end of it sat the green house. The French doors already sit open. Awaiting me.

The green house was large and fragrant. The windows were slightly fogged and I could barely see the fresh snow. In the middle of the house was a large and extravagant water fountain. Around the fountain was the tea table. In this section the herbs specifically tea herbs grew. As the garden expended out was the flowers and around the outer part was the vegetables and fruits.

The roof was a dome shape and ended in a pointed spire. There was also a chandelier hanging in the center. My heels clicked against the tile as I made my way to the table where his mother already sat waiting for me. Octavius smiles and kisses my forehead and leaves without saying a word to his mother.

Flattening out my dress as I take a seat across from her. My eyes run over the golden tried tray before me with elegant plates holding the pastries and sandwiches.

"So, Adrianna," his mother breaks the silence. "I wanted to get to know you as it seems you aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Might as well get to know my daughter-in-law."

Damn right I'm not going anywhere.

"And what would you like to know," I ask and fill my plate with pastries. Completely focused on the food and not looking at her.

"Anything, everything."

I lift my eyes from the plate, suspicious. "You are going to have to be more specific."

She smiles. "Tea?"

I didn't even answer as she poured a fragrant cup of tea into my cup. It smelled of raspberries and roses. Truly, I have never been a tea fan, but I'll act like it in front of his mother.

"You probably know everything about me," I redirect the conversation. "I am the daughter of the moon Goddess and the only women who has been on your son's mind for years. I'd like to know about his mother that my father brought back just for him."

She seemed to squirm. "Of course."

"What was Octavius like as a child?"

"He was always getting himself into trouble with the villagers. Always scaring them and playing pranks. He got his wolf young in age and used that to his advantage."

Now is when my suspicions set in. I knew he didn't like the villagers. In fact he stayed far from the village as he was seen to practice magic and that threatened them. They felt threatened by him so they would hurt him. Obviously he wouldn't shift in front of them.

Also I was starting to notice the little things in this facade were starting to show through. For example she wasn't marked and she didn't smell of her mate.

I suddenly started to feel dizzy and that alerted Brooklyn right away. His mother smirked as she sipped at her tea. That murderous grin on her face as she watched me hold my head.

"You know. Even this poison can make the strongest of wolves fall. Thankfully you didn't need to drink any for it to affect you. You just needed to smell it, but this tea was created so the poison's scent was neutralized," she muses.

"Brook," I call. "Brooklyn, take her. Get the Alpha- get Octavius."

My hands start to shake and the world started to spin. I started to see triple. Everything seemed to move in a slow motion haze. Everything was muffled as if I had earmuffs on. His mother smirks as she quickly shifts into a strange wolf and darts out. Breaking a window of the greenhouse on her way out. I watch tons of warriors flood the outside chasing after this unknown women.

"Adrianna," I hear his familiar voice call, clear and panicked.

I try to go to him, but I fall with a hard thud. He quickly rushes to me and cradles my head in his lap.

"You are going to be okay," he reassures.

I try to say something but it comes out slurred and slow. He curses as he calls out commands to the warriors. My eye lids were drooping, but I kept fighting. Fighting to stay awake, to stay alive.

"I'm going to heal you. It is the only way to remove this poison from your system. We don't have time to get a doctor or to the hospital. This poison will kill you before we even get there."

I try to protest knowing very well what would happen to him if he used his healing abilities. Yet, he ignores me and acts on his own will.

Softly he places his hands on my body. He seemed to strain a little, but unlike my healing white aura his is a dark abyss. His eyes turn a midnight black, the veins on his arms do the same. The haze recedes and the triple vision falls back into one person. I could feel my body again and not worry about the slow motioned world that almost made me throw up.

Octavius's shoulders slump as he leans over me. His eyes locked on mine. He was sweating bad and the hair hanging over his forehead became glued to it.

"Octavius," I mumble. "That wasn't your mother. She didn't bare a mark or scent of your father. Nothing was adding up."

"I am going to kill whatever the fuck that is."

I nod.

"Until then, you need to rest." He scoops me up and leaves the green house and enters the warm fortress.

As we left construction workers entered with a large window pane and other warriors left the fortress in a hurry. Other guards swarmed us since both of their Alpha's were weakened.

"You shouldn't have done that," I tell.

He shakes his head. "Nonsense, anyway I have some criminals to punish later. I can take their life force and that'll heal me. No big deal."

The rest of the day we stayed in bed, resting. I was more worried about Octavius as the black kept spreading throughout his veins. Yet, he didn't seem to be worried. His eyes remained on me that glittered with concern.
