"Well from what I know, the girlfriend, or whoever she is, got upset with him and dumped his mom's ashes in water." Cassia sighed, feeling herself growing angry just from repeating it.
She didn't understand how an individual could be so cruel, to the point where they could stoop so low. Although she was almost sure the girl didn't know Cepheus the way she did, and the connection he had with his mom, she didn't think a person had to know all of that to understand that that's just something you don't do. It pained her to know that such a great piece of him was gone. Thankfully he still had the vertical bar necklace that he always wore around his neck which had a tiny bit of the ashes in there, but the rest were gone.
"So what's going on with him? Has he...you know..." Sitting up a little bit, Cassia ran her hands down her thighs.
"Yes, in a way. He's been kind of distant and to himself, but the difference between this time and last time is that I can see he's really trying to contain himself around me and the kids. He continuously reassures me that I'm not the cause of his anger and he really is working hard to keep himself together and not let the anger he has for her reflect on us. He's been taking his medicine, hasn't been doing any hard drugs, just smoking and drinking occasionally. Then when he's not doing that I allow him to take his anger out on me because it helps him." Raising an eyebrow, Jamila crossed her legs over each other while tilting her head.
"I'm genuinely shocked...but proud." Nodding her head, Cassia cracked a small smile at the thought of him.
"Me too, he's made so much progress, and my biggest fear was that it would just all go down the drain. I know mentally his headspace is all fucked up right now, but I can see he doesn't want to go back to that space and it's evident." Eyeing Cassia, a small smirk spread across Jamila's face.
"...He's making you fall in love with him again isn't he." Furrowing her eyebrows, Cassia quickly sat up straight with her eyes fixed on Jamila.
"What are you talking about?" Laughing to herself, Jamila sat up also. The two of them sitting in Cepheus' living room alone since the kids were at school and Christian was upstairs sleeping, while Cepheus went to talk to Anthony.
"Girl I'm not dumb, the way you're talking about him right now...that look in your eyes. It's exactly the same as when the two of you first started to get involved deeply." Jamila smiled warmly, attempting to hide how excited she was about them possibly merging onto the track of working towards their relationship.
"Jamila-."
"Don't try to lie to me and don't try to lie to yourself either. When was Christian born again?"
"September 15th." Cassia mumbled, adjusting in her seat a little bit. Nodding her head, Jamila crossed her arms over her body in a comfortable manner.
