"So how long have the two of you been in a relationship and how did the two of you meet?" Leaning back in his seat, Cepheus looked over in Cassia's direction for her to start speaking first. Clearing her throat, she glanced down at her hands before back up at Erin.
"Well, we met about 7 years ago in the hospital that I work at. I'm a doctor and he was a patient, he wasn't my patient though until another doctor had to leave out on maternity leave. Because she left, he had to get transferred over into being my patient for the remainder of his stay. From there we gradually moved into something that was past a patient/doctor relationship which led us into being together. From there we were good for about 4 months until something tragic happened which led to the downfall of the relationship that declined for about 3 months, before he left away for 5 years. And now here we are, and we've been off and on kind of since he came back which was in August of last year." Cassia summarized, trying to keep it as short as possible.
Nodding her head while jotting down a couple notes, Erin crossed her legs over one another while tapping her pen on her notepad. "What made you come back?" She pointed towards Cepheus, who was slouched back in his seat.
"She was 9 months pregnant with my baby, and I didn't want to miss his birth or the first months of his life." He kept it simple, the idea of therapy being something that he agreed they needed, but that didn't mean he wasn't iffy about it.
The thought of telling a complete stranger about the issues that went on in a relationship that was nobody else's business, never sat well with him. His trust issues beyond high, a lot of risks coming with oversharing due to what he did for a living.
"Oh so the 2 of you have children together?" Nodding their heads in unison, Cassia glanced over to see that he was already eyeing her. "May I ask how many along with their ages, just to get a sense of your family dynamic?"
"We have 3, ages 10, 5, and 5 months. 2 boys and 1 girl, but he has another daughter outside of our relationship who is 8." Seeing the look that instantly spread across Erin's face, Cassia raised a hand to clarify. "I didn't give birth to our oldest, so his daughter outside of our relationship wasn't due to stepping out or anything like that."
Nodding her head, Erin took a couple more notes before closing the notepad and placing it on the desk next to her. Standing to her feet, she said nothing as she made her way across the dimly lit room, both Cassia and Cepheus' eyes following her the entire way. Reaching up onto a shelf she grabbed 2 separate journals, handing one to Cassia and the other to Cepheus.
"Thank you for the brief introduction, but before we get started completely these are for both of you. After each session, it'll be great if you all can do a reflection along with jotting down any thoughts that come to mind between sessions. Just writing down your feelings, because that's another way of releasing when I'm not around or if you feel you can't speak to each other about it. Which now leads me to my next question...what exactly is the reasoning for the two of you seeking therapy? I'll ask that you both go individually, say your personal reasoning, your reasoning for your relationship, and your reasoning for your family. Whoever wants to start first..." Erin smiled, picking her notepad back up while sitting back down in her seat.
