Nine ran.

That's it.

That's all he could think right now.

How fast he needed to run.

He had been sleeping when a loud shatter woke him, going down the stairs, he saw huge tendrils of darkness crawling through his house, making him immediately run away.

Worried about the other blocks, he ran towards the closest house to his, Eight's.

"Eight!" He banged on his door, "Eight wake up and get out of there! Something's wrong and we have to go!"

Nothing happened for a bit, and Nine decided to knock the whole door down.

"Eight! Where are you?!"

Eight, looking very relieved, was currently throwing random objects at the dark tentacles, with little success, Nine might add.

"Nine! You're a sight for sore eyes! What is this thing?"

"I don't know! But c'mon! We need to go!"

Eight threw one last gummy bear at it, and grabbed Nine's arm and took off running.

"One!? One?!" Two was currently trying to find his friend, who he had gotten separated from in the hurry.

"Two! I'm over here!" One called, coughing slightly. "Over! Here!"

Two picked One up and placed her on his head.

"Keep a look out for Three! I don't know where she is!"

One looked around and gasped.

"Run! Run right now!"

Two didn't look back and obediently ran.

"What's wrong?"

"Don't ask, just keep running."

Twelve awoke to the sound of high-pitched screaming.

"What? Who'd scream like that at this time?!"

Getting out of bed, she rushed to the source of the sound, which was coming from Eighteen's room. Twelve opened the door only to find Eighteen on the floor.

"Eighteen?"

He flung upwards and took her hand.

"Sis! We need to go! Now!"

"Why? What's wrong? Is it the monsters under your bed again?"

Eighteen shook his head.

"Much worse than that! Get ready to zoom!"

As soon as he got the front door open he activated his rays and rushed away with his sister in tow.

"What's scaring you!?" She yelled over the wind.

"The dark! It's really cold and it tries to grab you!"

Twelve stopped.

"I'm cold, sleepy, and tired mind you! And you think that, in the middle of the night, it's a good idea to drag me out here, screaming your head off like a girl, all because you're afraid of the dark!?"

"Yes! I have every reason to be afraid!"

"No you don't, the dark can't even get you." Twelve pointed out.

"This one can!" Eighteen argued, then he gasped, "Look!"

Twelve turned to see what he was pointing at and gasped as the growing mass of darkness has swiveled up into a tornado, huge claws of darkness reaching out towards her and her brother.
