Earth was gazing at the view from outside the window by the settee.

The beta turned his head every few minutes to check on the baby boy he was in charge of today. He was at work currently, but his mind was only halfway in his current state. He had a major confusion as of right now.

He gazed at the many trees that stand as both shades and because of the little forest surrounding the building. The sun that shined through the gap between the trees delineated a warm hue that calmed every soul who was watching, the same feelings that Earth got as he was looking at the calming green the trees provided.

Earth has his mind back to the morning after spending Kao's rut together. The day he heard a confession from Kao, he was doubtful that it was mere dreams taunting him because he imagined how it feels to be a special person for the alpha.

The three words that he heard sounded just like Kao's voice, but he only heard them once, so he brushed it off as imagination. After that, he drifted off to sleep, but before he could succumb to the dreamland completely, he heard another hallucination of the same three words.

The inside of Earth's mind was debating whether or not he was really hallucinating.

On the one hand, Earth is eager to believe that he received a confession from the person he often hoped to have feelings for him other than a mere sex partner.

However, on the other hand, he feels unsure about what he had heard. Was it just his mind playing tricks on him, or was it a reality? Especially when it comes to Kao, an alpha who is notorious for changing sexual partners frequently. Which tells him that the alpha never included romance in everything he did.

Earth found it very difficult to accept that Kao had expressed his liking to him, especially after he woke up from his little nap, where he didn't see Kao beside him anymore, and he felt alone.

Is this how Kao feels when he wakes up, and I'm not by his side?

Earth admitted he felt a sense of loss when he found the bed that had been warm because Kao's presence became empty and cold.

Then, the beta scoffed softly, feeling funny after imagining the alpha would feel the same as he did when he woke up alone. Fine, Kao did say that he was glad to wake up first and implying that he was happy to see that Earth didn't leave immediately, but Earth had this little doubt.

Earth doubted that he could be someone more special for the alpha, more than the others that Kao had spent time with.

"Earth, you got a delivery," Plan's sudden voice startled Earth.

The beta turned around and found his colleague standing with something in his hands. "A delivery?" He was eyeing what Plan was holding, wondering if this was the one his colleague was speaking about.

Plan chuckled softly, not wanting to wake up the sleeping babies in their bassinets. He held out what he was holding towards Earth, "Yes, I signed the receipt, and this is it." He pointed out to the middle of the basket, "There's a note there."

After Plan left him, Earth was rather flabbergasted by what he got. A basket filled with varieties of fruits and assorted chocolates. His mouth waters just seeing one of the dark chocolate and the orange-flavored chocolate between the fruits.

Feeling more curious about the note left for him than the taste of those lovely chocolates, he placed the basket on the windowsill with a heavy heart. He opened the enveloped note to see eloquent writings inside, and he read:

I apologize for leaving you alone and had forgotten to leave a note. Unfortunately, there was an emergency at the office, and they needed me there.
