"...—care institution?"

As he became aware of his surroundings, he realized that he was in one of the rooms in his workplace. He looked to the only person besides himself inside the room, which was adorned in a formal setting.

Wasn't that the one that interviewed him when he applied for his job?

The beta scrutinized his eyes to observe better; he looked down at his outfit and found the same clothes he wore to the interview.

"Mister Namwirote?"

Earth looked back towards the old lady that called his name. "I'm sorry, were you asking me a question?"

The old lady just smiled warmly, probably due to being around children almost 24/7. But then, she stared kindly at him, "I was asking, can you tell me why you want to work in our childcare institution?"

Earth seemed to deduce that he was inside of a dream right now. There can't be any other explanation for what he experienced currently. He smiled at the old lady, deciding that he can always answer that question anytime if he was to be asked.

"I love children. I had always dreamt of having one of my own one days ever since I held my cousin's son when I was only in middle school," Earth looked sincere as the image of his nephew played in his mind again, reminiscing the feeling of holding a baby for the first time in his life.

Then, his face turned sad, "But alas, I am gay and also a beta. Therefore, I can't have a child of my own except for going through adoption or surrogacy," he smiled bitterly. "I want to have a child, born from my future partner and me, but I am no omega or alpha that allows me to have a child with another man."

"I don't want to subject a child that I adopt or born from a surrogate mother to experience something unpleasant, just because they will probably only have me in their life," Earth was referring to bullying that the child will probably go through.

The beta then smiled warmly to the one who interviewed him, "That is why I want to work in this childcare institution because I can somehow relinquish my desire to have children here, to be a part of the children's life; albeit for a short time."

The old lady smiled at the beta, her hands clasped on top of the table that separated them both. "I hope your dreams will come true one day."

Instead of being happy for the old lady's wish, Earth was frowning and feeling utterly confused. "What do you mean—"

...The words stuck in his throat as Earth felt the surroundings suddenly changed. He looked around to see himself in the home where he grew up, the one where his parents are still living.

The beta's eyes searched for people, anyone who happens to be here, to ask why he was here?

Earth found both of his parents, looking much younger than he remembered seeing them when he visited home. They were walking closer to him and crouched down on the sofa he sat on.

Wait a minute...

Why do they need to crouch down?

Then, Earth looked down at himself, bringing his hands closer to his eyes, only to find a pair of small hands. The hands of a child.

Eyes bulged out as he realized he must have been inside of his dreams or memories; he can't make phantom which one, as he can't remember the interview before, had gone like that.

This time, this is probably his childhood memory, as he remembered this scene albeit partly. So he must have been a five-year-old boy right now.
