His fingers were tapping on the glass table of his work office impatiently. Eyes bore into the wall across him in the calculation. He sighed deeply for the nth time today as if he still didn't get an answer from all the questions swirling around in his mind.

"What made you so cranky this early, Kao?"

The alpha whipped his head around to see a figure sitting right at home on the couch inside his office. He raised an eyebrow, "When did you get in here?" He asked the only person he considered as a friend in Thailand.

The other person laughed; he shook his head at the alpha, who's looking a tad bit annoyed when he laughed. "I've been here for half an hour already, dude. You were just too absorbed in your own thoughts."

Kao just stared at his friend in laziness; he stood up from his seat and went to the couch opposite of his guest.

"Have you seen the news on the internet? Kao Noppakao is getting more famous as days go by," then the other person laughed hard, especially after Kao threw a throw pillow at him.

"I think you were just jealous because I took the limelight off of you since I came back here, Mew," Kao smirked confidently.

Mew scoffed, "I'd be most glad when you took it away though. That way I can enjoy my date night without paparazzi tailing on me," he replied.

Kao then frowned when he remembered something, "Anyway, what news did you mean?"

Mew opened his phone and shoved it into Kao's face, to which Kao glared at him before focusing on the phone that was now in his hand. Then, seeing Kao frowned, Mew chuckled, "It wasn't new information though, you know people out there knew your night habit, right?"

Kao still frowned when he read the articles closely, "I knew to a certain extent that it was only rumored spreading around, but to make matters worse they had pictures of me entering the hotel? Even investigate the hotel room that I had used?" He felt disgusted and rather taken aback by the articles upon articles of him.

Kao had been entering the hotel every night with different people, that was true. However, after the weekend he spent with a beta, it didn't feel right. He tried the next night and the night after that, but to no avail; he can't seem to enjoy it like before. His gut was telling him every time he tried it with the betas that it felt different, it wasn't as exciting anymore, and it was wrong.

"Are you too horny that you need to do it every day, Kao?" Mew's voice sounded concerned. His joyful demeanor was gone; it changed into one of an older brother who was worried about his younger brother. "From the news, it has been five days in a row since you went out to a hotel."

Kao was silent for a moment, then he sighed deeply, "It's not like that."

Mew frowned, "I knew you seek betas every week before this news came out. What made you go every night now?"

"I—"

"Was it due to nearing your rut?" Mew looked at the calendar on the wall.

Kao perked up; why didn't he think about his rut? Maybe that was the reason for his crankiness for him to seek a perfect partner. If the usual dominant alpha went through their rut once a year, Kao experiences a rut every 3 to 6 months as a very dominant alpha. His rut cycles don't have a set date or time, but every time he will enter the rut cycle, Kao felt the urge to look for a good partner that he felt compatible with him. This urge usually drives him mad over certain omegas, but he always resisted it and went with a beta instead due to his dislike towards omegas.

His thought was lost when Kao remembered something, "I don't think it was due to my rut, Mew."

Mew's expression looked like he was demanding the answer without uttering a word.
