Earth stared at the view from outside the window that passed, in line with the car he was riding. After he gave the alpha his address, there was only silence that filled the ride.
Sometimes the beta would shyly peek on the driver seat beside him because his eyes were drawn to the alpha, who had his eyes focused on the road and didn't realize that the beta was eyeing him silently.
Contrary to what Earth believed, Kao knew that the beta was secretly looking at him. He could see it from the corner of his eyes as he observed the beta. Kao was actually worried for the smaller ones, and he didn't want to startle the beta by mentioning the curiosity looks thrown his way. Kao tried to hold in his smile when he saw how adorable the beta was at trying to look at him discreetly.
The alpha couldn't hold his smile back as their eyes met, and the beta was so surprised that he turned his face to look at the window so fast. "I'm not going to bite you, Earth. So relax," Kao sounded neutral despite the smile that won't leave his face.
Earth was glad he didn't yelp out loud as he heard the alpha's voice since they rode the car. He slowly faced Kao again. With a soft voice, he said, "I'm sorry for staring." Instead of the disappointed face, Earth was expecting, Kao smiled and chuckled at him.
"I'm not mad; I found it cute, to be honest," Kao turned his head after he pulled the brake at the red light of the traffic signs.
Earth's heart skipped a beat as he saw Kao smiling genuinely at him. He unconsciously gripped the front of his shirt as he felt something stirring deep inside him, which he didn't know what it was. "Thank you for helping me at the club," he finally said what he wanted to say.
Kao was contemplating his reply, as he doesn't know why he felt rather protective towards Earth because he never felt this way towards a certain individual before. "I can't just let it slide when I know you felt uncomfortable by what he did," was his answer.
Both the occupant wasn't sure what to make of the alpha's answer; even Kao didn't understand why he felt and answered the question that way.
"It was because my energy was depleted because I was feeling nauseous back then. So I usually kicked people like him," Earth replied, trying to divert the mood.
Kao didn't know if he believed what the beta had said. He felt like, no matter if the beta can defend himself or not, he would feel the same regardless. Which he felt strange about as he can't place his fingers on the reason he felt that way, especially because he heard the word usually as if the beta had often met with people like that bastard. "Are you okay now? No more nausea?"
Earth nodded eagerly, "Yeah, I felt a little better after my friend bought me this non-alcoholic cocktail filled with sparkling water, lemon slices, and mint leaves. I felt a hundred percent better right now."
Kao frowned. He actually wanted to ask why the beta was feeling nausea in the first place. If he was sick, why came to the club then?
"Can I ask you a question?" Earth asked hesitantly, afraid that Kao would deem him as nosy.
Kao erased his thoughts and smiled at the timid beta, "I will try to answer then," he replied. Then, when he saw the lights had turned green, he let go of the brake, and they resumed the ride slowly.
Earth smiled, realizing the alpha's cheeky answer, "Was the alpha you talked to before we left your friend?"
"Why?" Kao replied with a question, and he subconsciously gripped the steering wheel a bit hard when the beta brought up another alpha, even though he knew that Earth was asking about Mew.
"I remember I saw you with him at the restaurant I mentioned before," Earth answered.
Kao actually questioned himself on why he was agitated when the beta mentioned another alpha, but after Earth's eyes showing nothing but curiosity, he let loose of the steering wheel. "That's Mew, he's three years older than me, and we've been friends even before I came back here."
